It depends on the shop. There's a shop here in town who only hires techs who have gone through some sort of schooling (like Barnett's), yet I got a job at the old shop where I worked a few years ago by walking in to buy something and the owner said something along the lines of "Do you know how to install a headset? Tools are over there. Get it done".

Do you know how well the chain I'm running holds up to abuse like running brakeless?

Will a Sugino XD2 crankset be a notable upgrade over my current Sturmey Archer FCT-20? I can get a set with a 44t chainring and chainguard, and 42t spare ring for €50. It'll definitely look better on my bike, but I'm not sure if it will have any impact performance-wise?
And is a chainguard cool? Or will it impair my skidz and street-cred?

Scrod,
whats your take on the Cinelli Gazzetta as opposed to purchasing the steamroller?

Probably not.
Who gives a crap about what's "cool"?

They're two entirely different frames. One has tight track geo, one has relaxed geo and can fit fenders and big tires. Which suits your needs?

I'm just popping in to say my Wabi's rear wheel is now magically holding air since we last spoke. I don't get it.

Say I don't need the fenders, don't mind track geo for road riding, and only need 28c tires or lower....Gazzetta is better quality and lighter, correct?

They're both made of 4130 cro-mo. Cinelli just uses a generic "Columbus" decal to make it seem more appealing. Get whichever one you happen to like better.
