i've ran the wing pro on several different bikes (currently have one on my straggler) for a few years and don't remember an outward flare on the drops.
also, according to this pic there isn't a flare....

The first version didn't have the 4 degree flare like the ones from the past few years.

well again- a VERY similar bar for $40....just another option!

It's the flare that I love. I'm using the 38cm FSA Omega compact drops right now which have the round top, but wanted the flat tops for my new build. At that price with those graphics, I'm just gonna stick to my 40cm Wing pros then.

Nah. Bought them off some dude from Sacramento.

Hey Scrod,

I'm wanting a 28H silver H+Son Archetype, but they are only avalable in 32H drilling. Any suggestion of something comparable quality with some depth that supports radial lacing ? I'm using a nice Dura Ace LF front road hub and don't want to use a Velocity Deep V.

Mumonkan 06-04-15 07:03 PM

fwiw: h+son makes all the other drillings but they dont distribute them to the us for some reason, so you gotta buy from the uk somewhere (like directly from them) and pay stupid shipping fees

i ended up picking a23's

Velocity A23 is a great choice, especially considering that Velocity's quality is back up to snuff.

Would you do 28H radial lacing on one ? Do you consider the quality sufficient to be worthy of a Dura Ace hub and Sapin CX-Ray spokes ?

Mumonkan 06-05-15 07:59 AM

CT-3.2 can handle a kmc k810sl ?

tested the little ct-5 i have and no bueno, too fat.

The CT-3.2 can be used on just about any chain. I haven't used it to install a K810SL but it works on a K710SL without any issues. You really should use the master link with those KMC chains, though.

Mumonkan 06-05-15 08:37 AM

since the 710 would be even fatter id think it would be fine

i plan to use the master, just need the tool for shortening purposes

thx broheim

TejanoTrackie 06-05-15 08:52 AM

OK, just one more question on the wheel build. Spoke length calculator says I need 282.3mm spokes. Sapim Laser spokes come in odd size lengths. Should I get 281mm or 283mm ? I know the CX-Ray spokes come in even lengths, but I've decided they are not worth the added expense.

I would go with 281mm.

H+Son is in China, headquarters and factory. :)

I ordered a pair of rims directly from them because of a drilling requirement issue. It was an "interesting" experience. They made good on the deal though, and it ended well.

idunno why uk was in my head. i emailed them and with what they said shipping would cost, each rim wouldve worked out to something like $120 so i figured it wasnt worth it

Because they design their site to look "Euro" and use British buzz words like "Stockists". Scrod and I had a debate about their marketing technique a long time ago. :p

Scrodzilla, update on the mysterious cable/housing saga: that shimano set actually wound up "fitting"

kindof.

inline adjusters added a little more length to the housing, the routing isnt perfect but it works for now, im gonna definitely wanna find some more housing somewhere

the cables that came with that set worked fine tho as far as length is concerned, didnt expect that, especially the front.

Hi, I am a complete beginner when it comes to riding bikes aside from my child hood however i came to you because i have read a few of your posts and you seem to be very knowledgeable with bike equipment. I just wanted to ask what kind of bike should i start off with (fixie/freewheel) I have looked all around the internet and have found numerous brands however they all seem the same to me and i can't tell the difference when it comes to the quality of the equipment used on the bikes. The brands i have considered are Aventon, Leader, Purefix(they are bleh), and Unknown. I think that you own a bike shop from what i have read correct? What have been your customers experiences with these brands and did they like them? Also how much do you think it would cost to have Road style drop bars installed on the Aventon which was my main goal. I asked around and all my local bike shops tell me most of the time that Aventon is some new brand they dont know about and none of them have it in stock one store has it that i haven't been to yet and was closed today when i went to go look for bikes, the other one i called over the phone told me that for an aventon i was looking at around 650! When the one from city grounds was around 500 i doubt the parts they are using in the aventon are very different from the ones from city grounds. They even advertise the frame for 350$ when they can clearly get it for wayy cheaper. If you feel this post is worth your time please reply back in detail.

Hey Scrodzilla, I've had a lot of conflicting info on this. I picked up an NJS Dura Ace crankset, 7600. What spindle length do I need, and is it ISO or JIS?

Common since says JIS, but I've read in some places that the NJS Dura Ace stuff is ISO for whatever reason.

Nope, DA 7600 is ISO.

I know two people using 109mm ISO and one person using a Phil Wood 110.5mm ISO. All of them have good chainlines.

CHEERS

Chances are you local bike shop sucks when it comes to fixed gear/track bikes (it's ok, most of them do).

Spend some time looking around the forum. You'll find the answers to all of your questions and learn a bunch of good, bad and altogether stupid things here, all of which will be worthwhile.

40ish nm. You really don't need a torque wrench though. Use common sense.
