You may have been asked this already, but I can't bring myself to search 100+ thread pages. I know how much you love Selle Italia Turbos, but can you tell me why you choose this saddle of saddles over everything else? I'm on the proverbial saddle quest. And yes, I looked at the saddle recommendations thread. I felt like a hamster in a wheel after reading it, and they also did not mention any San Marcos or Turbos for that matter (even though they're obviously awesome).

Hope you're doing well. Do you know if the SRAM 100 crankset will fit a square taper BB, or do I need to pop in a new SRAM BB? I see on your site that the SRAM 300 Crankset has the BB included so I'm assuming it's a proprietary fit. Also, is the 300 a significantly better crankset than the 100 for the few extra bucks? And, finally, given that the SRAM BB's seems to be fairly inexpensive, regardless of fit, is it worth it just to pop in a new BB when upgrading the crankset? My bike has a standard English thread if that matters at all.

The Sram S100 is not a square taper crankset. You'll need a Sram Powerspline BB w/ 113mm spindle.

The S300 is basically an external bearing GXP version of the S100.

Are all Leader 725 frames have a creaking sound and seat clamp problems? Or only 2015? I am looking into 2013 Leader 725 frame that i could get at a very reasonable price?
I also noticed that Retrogression does not carry Leader frames at all. Is that because latest frames declined in quality? Or even before it was not a great quality frame?

Hey scrod, what's your opinion on the origin 8 pedal/strap combo? Looking for something super cheap for foot retention just so I can ride around with normal shoes. Trying to stay under thirty and the local coops have nothing.

I've never used them (or even seen them in person) so I don't really have an actual opinion of them.

They look like they'll do what they're supposed to.

I've been fighting with the fsa integrated headset on my 725.
It feels like there is no room for adjustment. Either the headset is too tight and the steering is basically locked (can't ride hands free cause bike steers off the road), or if I loosen the top cap screw a half turn then I can feel a front to back play in the headset.
I can press forward on my stem/bars and watch the steer tube move forward slightly.

Am I doing something wrong or is there gonna be a bit of play in this setup? I have an irrational fear of fork failure

I've encountered a few of those frames that have bearing races cut too deep into the head tube (good job once again, Leader).

The easiest fix is to take a 1.5mm headset spacer and place it in between the compression ring and top cover of the headset, which will prevent it from being over-tightened as you pre-load it.

I had the exact same problem with a fsa orbit headset (installed on a wabi frame) and fixed it the same way. In my case it is pressed "cups" rather than machined into the frame. This makes me wonder if it is an issue with either the compression ring or perhaps a combination of tolerances between the OD of the steer tube and compression ring being off just enough to cause this issue.

It makes me feel better that someone else has had this issue and solved it the same way.

FYI fsa sells micro spacers to fix this issue if 1.5mm is way too much.

Thanks for the response on my previous question about the SRAM stuff. After doing a little research, I think the 100's just aren't for me. But I've seen you comment on the IRD Defiant here and elsewhere and just wanted to know if you guys are still having good luck with that particular unit. I really like the look of it and it's the size I need it to be (46T vs, say, the 48T of the RD2) and it will fit the square taper BB already on my bike meaning I can get a little more life out of it (one thing at a time, right?).

Thoughts on the Defiant? Happy with it? I know you guys carry it at RG and you probably wouldn't carry something you wouldn't use personally, but just wanted a little more insight before making a crank purchase.

The IRD Defiant is 100% awesome. Quality is perfect, the arms are very stiff and everyone I know who has them on their bikes are happy with them.

1.5 seems to be the magic number on those stupid Leader frames but yeah, you may need to play around with a few microspacers.

Thanks so much man! That's exactly what I needed to hear. It seems a lot of the "out of the box" bikes suffer most in the drivetrain. Looking to beef mine up a piece at a time. The crank seems to be the worst. Love how these IRD's have a vintage feel to them, too. Super cool.

Those new Heavy Pedal Tempo carbon clinchers on your site look awesome. Are the spokes bladed / oval ? Can't tell from the pics and it's not stated in the description.

They're bladed (you can see it in the close up pics of the hubs). Rims are 23mm wide too!

HP's cycle kits are awesome :thumb:

The HP Zephyr is supposed to have the same geometry as the Cannondale Track from what I've read. Seems like a nice bike, I'm just not a fan of the paint job. I'm happy to see their name getting out there though, they seem like a cool company.

The Zephyr is this w/ the steel fork option and loud paint.

The Heavy Pedal crew are cool guys. We've been talking with them a bunch lately and it's good to find people/companies who are on the same page and understand how RG does things.
