Quick question. Right now I'm running with a Velocity Deep V wheelset (32h laced to formula hubs) and I'm looking to change my wheelset and hopefully upgrade from the Velocity Deep Vs. I'm looking at H+ Son's TB14 Rims laced to Formulas, as well as Mavic Open Pros laced to Formula hubs. I found that the mavics are about 70-80 grams lighter than the Velocitys and the H+sons. Will I be able to notice a difference in the weight when I'm cycling? Also does the wider rim of the TB-14 make a difference too?
Any opinion on these rims will be greatly appreciated (Edit: I just noticed the Archetype rims, and these are also added to my consideration for new rims) Regarding the width of Archetype and TB14 rims, a wider rim will spread out the beads of a tire and increase handling and ride quality (especially when using narrow tires) because the sidewalls won't bulge out away from the rim and flex under load. |

The Beverly/Salem area is beautiful during the winter and I miss seeing snow but I definitely don't miss dealing with it or freezing my ass off.

What do you think of the Marin Dominican? Marin Bikes | Dominican | Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, and City/Commuter Bicycles | ww
I'm trying to decided between a Windsor the Hour and the Marin Dominican for my first bike. I'm in Winnipeg, Canada and it would cost me around $300 to get the Hour off bikeisland but a LBS has the Dominican on sale for $345. I checked out the specs on the website and it seems like its components are at least on par with the Hour's. I'm not sure about the geometry though. I'm leaning towards the Dominican right now because the extra $45 seems worth it since this is my first bike and I'd be almost guaranteed the right fit if I were to buy it from the LBS. I tried researching the Dominican on here and pedalroom. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of information out there on it. |

Those dropouts are very common and are used on quite a few frames (the Leader 722TS, Heritage Edition and Heritage LO are more examples).
I don't know anything about that Marin bike so it's hard for me to give an actual opinion of it. It doesn't look too bad for the price though. |
