Scrod, what are your suggestions on a low rise riser bar like the easton ea50 but with a 26 clamp and silver finish.

Amazon.com : Eighthinch Fixed Gear Single Speed Riser Bar Polished Silver : Sports & Outdoors

don't know what size lever it takes

Scrodzilla 02-12-15 07:50 PM

That Amazon listing is wrong. Those bars have a 25.4mm clamp area.

Scrod, regarding all city crayton steel double toe clips, what makes you choose between the medium and large sizes? Preference, shoe size, how slim or big your shoes are?

For reference, I wear size 10 shoes and don't wear too thick of shoes. Are medium clips right for me?

Scrodzilla 02-12-15 10:52 PM

What pedals will you be using them with?

murrellington 02-13-15 12:24 AM

Gr10

Scrodzilla 02-13-15 02:32 AM

Medium

murrellington 02-13-15 03:13 AM

Thanks!

I e-mailed them to ask but here's another reference stating they're 26.0.

EIGHTHINCH RISERS | THE FIXED LIFE

I've seen them on multiple sites claiming this.

They're all probably parroting the same incorrect information. Unless Eigth Inch themselves state this, then it's probably unreliable. I'd put my money on Scrod being correct on this one.

Considering I've measured them myself using a digital caliper, I'm telling you (again) that is incorrect.

Hey scrod I remembered you said something about being able to get colossi's. What's the retail price range of colossi's any way? What about the Lowpro?

Colossi just set up distribution in the US. We're already locked in as their dealer for the region but I won't really know pricing or what's readily available from their facility for another month or so.

If anyone can't wait for them to set up lbs/dealer network - and is that interested in having one, considering they do make a really nice frame...Colossi seems to already be open for bidness direct to individuals, not that there is anything wrong with that ;-)

Frames - Stocked ? Colossi.us

I just spoke to the sales rep two days ago and assure you the frames haven't arrived in the US yet, which is why all the frames on their site show a delivery time of four weeks from the order date. He also told me the prices on their site may not be 100% accurate at this time.

Eighthinch and wheel&sprocket responded to my e-mail stating they're 26.0. They're probably a newer batch than the ones you measured.

Whatever you say. This is your thread, after all.

What is the largest tire that will fit a 46cm Cretin frameset, assuming a front brake but no rear brake. Specifically, would Fyxation Session 700x28c tires, which run large and are closer to 700x32c work ?

Looking at Leaders website it states that the I803 fork that comes with the Cretin frameset has clearance for 25mm tires. Scrod can give you a better answer on the rear spacing.

I803 - Forks - Shop | Leader Bike LLC

I'll take an actual measurement when I get back to the shop tomorrow.

TejanoTrackie - By my measurements there's plenty of clearance for 32c tires in both front and rear.

Thanks. Please confirm that it would also have clearance for a front brake. Would a Tektro R540 caliper work ? Also, please confirm that the standard Andel cranks will work with the Cretin BB. Basically, my intention would be to transfer all the parts from my naranja (aka Motobecane Messenger) with the exception of the front brake caliper to the Cretin. What size (length and bar diameter) is the Cretin stem ?

Thanks - TT

Scrodzilla 02-17-15 03:31 PM

Sorry, I should've been more specific. Plenty of clearance for a 32c tire with either a Tektro R540 or Dia Compe BRS-101 caliper on the front.

The BB that comes installed on those frame kits is marked 111mm (weird, right?) so you shouldn't have any issues using it with the Andels. By my caliper the stem measures 76cm from center to center (another oddity) and clamp is 31.8mm. It also weighs about 3 lbs...

Also, do yourself a favor and scrap the stock headset. Every one I've seen has been pretty crunchy right out of the box, even before pre-loading.

Thanks again. So what headset will work in this frame ?

Scrodzilla 02-17-15 03:59 PM

FSA ZS-3, same as the older Leader 7-series frames.

I'd get a bigger bike before running a stem that long.

Will I have to remove the stock headset fork crown and headtube races (are they pre-installed) ?

Are there any other sub-par components IYO ? Is the seatpost clamp (collar) junk ?

You will need to remove the cups from the frame and the crown race from the fork.

The frame and fork are the only real things that matter. Seatpost and collar are acceptable generic stock bike stuff but the stem is a turd.
