He posted something on the shops Instagram, he also stated that not everything at the physical store is available online.

I must be behind the times, I still haven't caught up to using twitter, instagram, ******, snapchat, and to this day I'm still trying to figure out what a Vine is.

Yes and yes.

Before everyone freaks out, calls me a "sellout" and a "traitor" or starts burning me in effigy in town squares across the country, it was a decision that certainly took a lot of deliberation.

Without writing a 5000-word essay here on BikeForums, I will say that after some lengthy conversations with reps from Aventon I can easily see how they are doing very good things for the track/fixed gear cycling community - much more, in fact, than many other popular brands - and are working extremely hard to better themselves as a brand having respect for both the industry and their customers. We received some product today (which we posted a pic of on Instagram to mixed results) and I am very pleasantly surprised to see the overall quality of their frames has improved quite a bit and to say the frames are on par with Leader's recent offerings is accurate. They are also on board to be a pretty big sponsor of the SD Velodrome in 2015 and as a result, people here want their frames. Whether or not we put them up on the site is still up in the air.

You guys know my personality and the way my shop does things. We flat out refuse to do business with any company we don't respect or want to do business with. My thought process was pretty much "Go ahead, impress me" and kudos to them because they did.

For the record, Vincent Shim and Unknown Bikes can still go **** themselves. :)

Cool. I was just wondering because I remember you saying that you didn't like their bikes and not giving specific reasons why, but you selling them is a vote of confidence from you, which is cool.

Lol

Even Leader bikes went through their fair share of revisions to improve known issues (seatposts and dropouts come to mind). If their next gen lineup shows great improvement from the last, everyone wins.

Exactly. When these new companies spring up, it's easy to say "Great...more cheap crap flooding the already over-saturated market" but over time, some companies develop a little more legitimacy. I see Aventon doing the right things and moving in the right direction, so my opinion of them has changed.

I just want to say that this attitude (in life in general, just not regarding bike related stuff) is both badass and admirable. Respect.

IAmSam 12-10-14 07:57 AM

Considering this development, it must be time to start "The I Love My Aventon Thread" thread, thread?

My Friend bought an Aventon Matero and the frame came twisted from the factory, dropouts don't line up (as a result makes horrible creaking sound). Maybe he got the last of the ****ty one's but I was not impressed with the quality whatsoever. Except for that the frame is a great deal for the $$$$

Quality control slip ups do happen. Hell, I received a ****ed up Surly frame, but it was all good because they took care of me.

BiceclettaLover 12-10-14 10:16 PM

Yeah I should add that they hooked him with a brand new frame and apologize for everything.

What was up with your surly?

WhatsYoCadence 12-11-14 12:18 AM

Scrod, what's the deal with Kinlins? I've never gotten to try them and I know you used to stock them. Why don't you anymore?

I've seen a few like that too (which I haven't been shy about here on this forum), which is precisely why my opinion was that they were crap. They were a new company and they've made obvious improvements. I agree about their frames being a great value for the price.

It's still kinda weird to look up at the wall in the shop and see a bunch of Aventons hanging there but we definitely don't regret the decision to work with them.

+1. **** happens. Hell, even NASA messes up occasionally.

At first it seemed like all the Aventons I would see were screwed up in some way and that it wasn't just QC slips but all the frames we've got on hand look very good (and I certainly scrutinized every inch of them).
