There are a ton of black setback seatpost options but I'm pretty sure he's looking for Nitto quality.
|
Correct, specifically with two bolt thomson style clamp. They allow precise adjusment of angle and fore/aft position and stay put. After years of fighting cheaper posts and interior designs, i tried a thomson. I have not bought anything other than a Thomson stem or post since. I don't need lots of setback specifically, just not a straight post. Ill stick with the nitto s-83 for now.
Function over form and all. |
Scrod,
If I were to order a set of wheels (flip/flop hub) from you, what components should I be looking at?? My budget is a bit over $350 and would prefer black to go with my color scheme. These wheels would be for my Bianchi I am building up. You got some of my money last week, looks like you're gonna get more. Thanks!! |

Flatulentfox you might give them a call and see what their projected time frame is now. It's a good post and unlike the Thomson, I think the bend is probably high enough for your needs. |
I will keep an eye out for the VO. Thanks for the heads up.

Was thinking of picking up an additional wheel-set b/c my current are junk.
Found a pair of Paul Hubs/H+S Archetypes (w/ All-city Cog/Lockring) for $375. Seems like a good deal??? but what I am concerned about is the combo with my SRAM Omnium and the chainline + dishing?? I am really new to this concept tbh and been trying to educate myself, I have read some people say this combo causes problems and will not work/create noise etc. etc. Other people have said there is no issue (i think I might have read a post from you too saying you had an Om + Phil Wood combo at one time.) Looking for some advice. |

/notscrod but Phil Wood and Paul are two different hub manufacturers.
seriously just derped so hard... thank you. thats my dislexia in action. Honestly I saw a P + L, got excited and skipped between the lines. Idon't know a lot about Paul but it seems some like them more then Phil. So Paul (44?) vs Phil (42?) which one works with Omnium? I don't want to jump into a purchase and make a mistake. |

Omniums give a 45ish mm chainline. Either one will be fine. My only beef with Paul hubs it that they don't come fixed/fixed. Because you can safely install a freewheel on fixed threading if need be but can't install a fixed cog & lockring on freewheel threading, fixed/free is useless. |
When are the archetype formula wheels coming in?

just a heads up i ran omnis and paul hubs with a goldmedal cog and due to the extra two mm's of random offset paul has the finish wore along the side prematurely due to chainline offset.

I had originally bought a Surly Fixed/Fixed Hub which has a 42.5mm chain-line with the intension of working with the omomnom. So maybe I shouldn't buy this wheelset? |

Hey Scrod. I have this old front wheel with a Velocity Deep V tubular rim, and want to rebuild it with a Deep V clincher rim, re-using the same spokes. Will the ERD be the same so that it uses the same spoke length ?

They're the same. Another random factoid: you can replace high flange phil with 7600 high flange and use the same spokes assuming you keep the same rim. |

Dear scrod,
Lockring spanner and pliers aside, would you be able to source other offerings from the rest of Hozan's tool catalog? |
