Hey Scrod, I think you may have missed my question a page or so back. Here it is again and thanks.
I'm wondering when, over the next few months, the best time would be to buy a frame. I'm thinking aluminum and I'd like to buy from retrogression. We're heading in to 2012 and I see Leader's recently put up a 2012 catalog on their website so I don't want buy something too quick and miss out on a) a nice discount on a 2011 frame or b) an awesome 2012 frame or c) something new that's coming to retrogression that I don't yet know about.
So I'm not looking for any insider info or asking for a discount, just looking for your opinion (and also an attempt to get this thread back on topic).
Thanks!

Dear Scrod,
I'm behind the times in the lingo the kids are using these days. What does "jawn" mean? Any other newfangled words these youngun's are using that I should know about?

I'm 99.9% certain that Leader's aluminum frames will remain the same through 2012. There is a cool new version of the 722TS coming out very soon with tighter geo and an accompanying fork with 30mm rake but if you're looking for aluminum, that may not interest you. Maybe wait for the 2012 Dodici Gara?

Dear Scrod,
What has been your experience with the Leader SPA2 seatpost? Good quality product? Anything I should avoid? I see you use Thomson Elites for your bikes, but having seen neither on-hand, I don't know which one would be a better investment. Figured you'd be the one to ask, hehe!

The SPA2 is great for the money, has a cool "aero" shape and is nicely made/finished (if you like white). It is a little heavy when compared to a Thopmson or Deda RS01 though.

Alright sweet. Just to verify, it has a single-bolt adjustable clamp rather than a two-bolt adjustable clamp, right?

The new seat tube with the hydroformed (not welded) rear wheel cutout is pretty rad too.

I think they're another "solution" to a problem that doesn't exist. For the cost of those and two sets of decent single straps, you could just buy some laminated doubles - which are plenty strong and secure enough on their own.

Right, but they are made specifically for use with doubles.

I bought a set of the nice doubles you stock in the store and recently converted to singles.... so i cut the doubles in half. Is it stupid hard to find single straps as good the Exustar doubles or is it just me?
