Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah chances are the origin8 will only be marginally less painful than the stock Kilo TT saddle

Bikes: Fixie

I know exactly why these threads happen: when one goes to their LBS, even as awesome as 718Cyclery, which specializes in vintage single-speed conversions and fixed gears: they only carry two types of saddles: Specialized (ugh) or Brooks (doesn't fit all styles). So people come on here and ask which tarck/hipster saddle will feel the best on their ***. In NYC there are stores that carry track saddles: Chari&Co, Affinity, etc. But otherwise it is really hard to get a store to order a seat and then not buy it from them. Do you guys agree?

Btw: my 20 year old San Marco looks like some discolored **** but its ah-mazing to sit on!

Well "hipster killa" maybe you should slay some hipsters and just take their saddles until you find one that you want.

If your's is a 50cm White and you're just looking for asthetics, here's mine with the Spoon.
Cheap and comfy

The concor looks pretty comfortable, probably going to order it soon in time for the upper 60's temps next week!

and here I come - Concor was very uncomfy on road bike, but was OK on MTB.
The most positive thing I found that Lance sat 7 TDF on it and came 1st. It was strong point once when I was selling my bike with this saddle on it.

What? Really? I can't imagine a seat with 3 times the surface area and more padding than the stock seat being uncomfortable.

I like the WTB Rocket V Comp Saddle. Had a Brooks for over a year and never liked it. The Rocket V was like $20 and I love it. Wish they made it in a dark brown rather than the light diarrhea brown color.

Bikes: Kona Unit, Kona Kahuna, Kona Dew DL, Scott Big Jon, Trek Checkpoint ALR4, KHS Urban Soul, Haro Team Issue, GT Force Expert Carbon, Bernardi Quadra.

Tioga MC-S is the best saddle I've ever used and its also very light. It has titanium rails and a carbon structure, it was quite expensive over here, not sure on the american price of it.

Sheldon Brown has a lot of good info to help you determine the right kind of saddle for your riding style.

Yep ..it is hard to imagine that more padding and more widing is not always more comfortable...

Talking about stock seats - I got one it says SKYE but in reality is is Velo (read Nashbar R2)... 199 gramms, with titanium rails, narrow and hard is very comfortable. For me.
Terry Zero Y is hard, slim and comfortable too... Selle Italia Flite Gel has more padding than any of the above - it took me a month the break it in...

All depends...

P.S. Rocket V was good for me but only on XC bike... on the road it felt too soft..

I had some sort of Terry ass hatchet on my old 2003 Bianchi Pista that I got right before doing a century (bike was used, came with the seat, I was young). Not good. Then went through all the "cool" seats- Turbo, Regal etc. Eventually sold the bike built up a beautiful old Italian lugged steel frame and bought the much loved Brooks. It sucked. A year later after much riding and another century on it, it still sucked. Sold the bike due to other issues (frame was too small). Got a Redline 925 and realized the best seat I had was the WTB on my old 1991 Specialized Rockhopper. Bought one for the Redline. Comfy. Heresy I know. I should be covered in Proofhide and burned at the "fixie" stake.

your bones and muscles will adapt soon enough so keep the original saddle around.

This is true. Did a 5 day bike tour on a borrowed bike last year, 40-50 miles a day and after the first day felt fine. Saddle was a pretty standard oem Velo, nothing special.

yeah I hear you on that, well I guess its either spoon or rocket v comp in that case. even though I have the money I wouldn't want to pay $100 for a saddle and be disappointed with it.

Bikes: 2015 Soma Double Cross

Planet Bike Superflash or PDW Radbot (either version). There is no other right answer, for the rear at least.

As for the front... are you looking to be seen on urban streets, or are you trying to light up the countryside?

I run a spoon on my MB, comfy.
I run a B-17 stock and after about 2 weeks of riding it became amazingly comfortable. Really just had to keep dialing it in every couple days to keep it from sagging. I live in the subtropics though, so humidity is always at or near 100 percent this time of year.
