No Hellyer if theres rain, as their website states: "Rain cancels all track sessions." It would be really dangerous in the rain as the surface would be too slick.

Just to confirm you can't use bullhorns. You may also want to ensure you have bar plugs in your drops.

Can ride with clips and straps down there, I have. But unless you have stiff shoes you waste a lot of energy. Clipless is probably best, if you're used to them.

Don't be a downer... it's only a chance of rain. It's only Tuesday. There won't be any certainty until Friday.

26th works for me if Hellyer isn't happening this weekend.

I'd be down for riding a bit on saturday if it's raining. Not brakeless, but riding the less trafficy areas would be fun. Maybe hit the crowbar and play some pool...

sorry. Not trying to be el negativo, I'm just guessing we'll have to wait till the 26th.
Even light rain closes the track. I guess we'll know by friday.

I'll be down for a local cruise on saturday, assuming its not pouring. I dont mind a little sprinkling, but I'm not trying to get sick.

BTW, do any of you have fenders on any of your bikes? I was thinking of getting one I can throw on for wet days and then take off the rest of the time. I rode home from Lauren Heights yesterday at 4 and my ass and bag were drenched.

I use a Zefal mtn bike fender that clips on to the seat-post. Very quick to install/de-install, looks silly...

I have fenders.
They work great.
I don't have a poncho though.

BTW, I had a couple of new additions to my garage a few days ago. Meet Phil the chinchilla, born the day before valentine's day. I'm still trying to think up a name for his sister, maybe Suzy...

Also, I know lots of you are using track bikes, but it should be ok if you want to ride a conversion. Quick release hubs are not allowed for racing, but should be ok for the beginner session. FYI, most of the track rentals have about 84" gearing. Whenever this does happen, I plan on riding my eggbeaters - though I might look for new cleats first (I have never slipped, but I sure don't want to find that they've worn in the middle of a sprint).

Some of the rentals have QR and I've seen others with QR for the saturday sessions so its definitely fine See folks down there with QR often tape the release with electrical or gaffer/duct tape just to be completley safe.

Do you want one? Our chinchilla population doubled and we need to find homes for two of them...

hey, listen up chinchillas:

it's 2 a.m. thursday morning and weather.com is predicting 70% chance of rain on friday and 60% chance of rain on saturday for San Jose.
So I'm predicting a 95% chance of us not going and riding on that damn 'drome!

HOWEVER, while said website is predicting 70% chance of rain here in SF on friday also, it's calling for a mere 40% chance on saturday. So, we could be on for city cruise, at the very least.

I rode down in San Jose yesterday in shorts and t-shirt. Today was a nice ride too...

To re-iterate, you guys all cool with the Peace Pagoda in J-town @ 10:30am on Saturday?
