It's doable if you're patient. If your search Google for "Harlequin wrap" you can find instructions.

From this thread:

Holy crap that is one of the most fiddly processes I've ever seen. It took me three attempts to wrap my bars without any gaps with standard tape.

I usually struggle just using regular bar tape myself. It looks decent on both bikes, not perfect, but at least a 3 footer. If I tried that, I would be crying for sure. Love the look of it, and would love to try it, but I know myself well enough to not do it.

TejanoTrackie 05-20-15 07:01 PM

Half-step + granny triple Sugino Maxy crankset. Good stuff.

SpeshulEd 05-21-15 08:44 AM

Pinarellos are like Louis Vuitton handbags, every time you see one not in a shop, you just assume its a fake.

I can't be the only one sick of seeing modern carbon road bikes in black, black, and more black. I know there are option out there, but I hope this fashion dies soon.

Mumonkan 05-21-15 09:27 AM

i concur. more NEON

those skittles crux' have been my favorite looking bikes ive seen in quite a while

Nagrom_ 05-21-15 09:27 AM

It's a lot easier to sell a black bike.

What bugs me more than all the black is the matte finishes. Why did "Dull" become fashionable???

Nagrom_ 05-21-15 09:35 AM

bike ninjas is why.

Mumonkan 05-21-15 09:45 AM

i think it makes a little more interesting than just gloss black. but ive always been a fan of flat black or OD green so im biased

Exactly. So many of them just look like generic chinese carbon. Boring as hell.

I thought it had something to do with the "murdered out" car thing, which I always found tacky as well. It looks like a rattle can job.

T13 05-21-15 11:47 AM

I'm a "satin" or "semi flat" guy, personally.

Unkle Rico 05-21-15 11:57 AM

The satin thing can look soooo good if done right. Generally people have poor taste imo so it usually looks awful :notamused:

Mumonkan 05-21-15 12:33 PM

satin is a little easier to make look uniform

most of the sanding jobs on the flat black cars you see on the street are garbage, you can see every imperfection

"yo my boy hooked up the paint on my 240 bro, **** is bomb as ****"

a truly clean flat black paint job is a work of art, even though its the least exciting paintjob you can have...

outside of beige

:shudder:

i dont understand a matte finish on an actual color though. guy on the island has a orangey-yellow colored charger with a matte finish. looks like a ****in block of cheese.
