i dislike climbing too, cause for me its mainly about survival at my portly 155lbs. for a while in college I weighed 145lbs with the same power. back then i used to look forward to it.

but those are all in group situations. I think climbing country roads with extended, low-grade (~5% or less), twisty, narrow roads can be quite enjoyable by myself. There's roads like that all over California.

Portly at 155?

I wish I was 155.

SpeshulEd 09-26-13 03:30 PM

I hate climbing...and wind.

Everyday I have a headwind on my way to work and a headwind home. Sucks.

Today I did some plumbing.

It was ****ty.

Today I started riding again after almost an entire year off. Only rode maybe 10 miles and it kicked my ass! :P

Today I realized our apartment in San Diego is a four-minute bike ride to the new shop according to Google, which means I can probably make it in two.

Jaytron 09-26-13 04:35 PM

Wow, that's an awesome commute

TMonk 09-26-13 04:36 PM

nice.

so where is the area again? I know you were saying Npark/Normal Heights/Univ Heights in there I think but I forget where.

I prefer living really close to work so I can enjoy riding without it having anything to do with the daily chore of commuting to and from.

Today I went to lunch with a sqrl. She rides and is open to listening to Metal. I think this is getting pretty serious.

.

I agree, I live 1 block from my job. After working 12 hours the last thing I want to do is sit in a car for an hour or take public transportation for an hour with people who smell.

hockeyteeth 09-26-13 08:00 PM

My former co-worker lived about 200 ft. from work and was always late. I personally find about 2 miles the ideal distance for a commute. Just far enough to get the blood pumping but not getting too sweaty during the summer.

So when's the wedding?

In other news, I found an awesome (read: unbelievable) deal on a De Bernardi road frame with Thron tubing in my neighborhood. This is significant because A.) It was my size. B.) This is the Buffalo craigslist we're talking about - Amazon/Vilano "fixis" being sold through scammer dickheads for above retail. Going to look at it Saturday.

This makes up for being covered in strangers' pee-pee and dookie today.

Also spent a good five minutes on the new state bike/ vs sweet fixay x vs sweet fixay y thread and had to edit my post three times before I realized I had nothing nice to say. Mods, you're welcome. I'm going soft.

I've been doing a lot of remodeling/general contractor work lately. Today was my first, and hopefully last go at in-depth plumbing. Pipes get filled up with lots of stuff, I'll let you use your imagination.

cali_axela 09-26-13 09:00 PM

Today I installed a rack and panniers on my commuter. Sweaty back FTL!

I have done remodeling with my father and I have had to snake the plumbing of apartments several times. :gag:

Today I dropped a bill on this sprint clinic http://cityofrockhill.com/modules/sh...ocumentid=4263

Legs don't fail me!

GENESTARWIND 09-26-13 10:19 PM

today i fell asleep in my gfs bed and woke up like 20 minutes late froma deepsleep to her and her best friend screaming at each otherand about to kill each other, now they are talking it out. laughing. women are scary and two dudes fighting and beating each other up is so much easier to deal with.

I don't know, man. She wants to go to CicLaVia with me, which is coming up again in a few days.

BP88 09-26-13 10:45 PM

Hah, wait until you have to bust out the sewer snake on a main drain clogged full of TP and ****. It's electric so it spins pretty fast and sprays **** water all over your face.
