Yesterday I did this: http://www.strava.com/activities/100414787
Mountain biking, mostly on rocky terrain. Doing that kinda distance on a rigid single speed MTB proved to be more painful then I had ever imagined, my hands are still numb. Time to look for a geared bike with a suspension fork.

cali_axela 12-16-13 01:49 PM

Damn, that's pretty hardcore. Kudos.

Dannihilator 12-16-13 04:04 PM

Today I put in 45 miles on sketchy road conditions.

Sherblock 12-16-13 06:31 PM

Today I was accepted into Reed College's class of 2018!

I heard Portland likes bikes so that'll be cool.

Mumonkan 12-16-13 07:19 PM

grats!

today i realized that this winter its not the wind thats gonna piss me off but its the ice. it never goes away and every tuesday is snows and rains and makes more.

need studs.

You classy.

Portland likes their bikes almost as much as their IPAs.

spRICE 12-16-13 08:15 PM

Today I rode my road bike with 23c tires on loose gravel. It was fun :D

solipsist716 12-16-13 09:25 PM

I'm caving in and selling my 721 frameset for $100 to some dickbird. Oh well.

Nice. You're not too far away. Even though I really don't have any way of getting into Portland.

Hippy!

misskaz 12-17-13 09:58 AM

Today I rode to work even though many streets haven't been plowed/salted. I wiped out just a few blocks from home, busting the container of soup I was intending to eat for lunch. It was in a ziplock bag too, which only sustained a small hole and saved everything in my bag form being covered in homemade rosemary potato leek soup, but there goes my lunch. I also hit the ground hard enough for my brifter to get twisted inwards a bit on the handlebars and I can't seem to force it back straight.

Also my knee hurts.

Falling so early on in my ride had me feeling sketchy and nervous all the way in. Not fun. Ugh.

I hear they're cracking down on the drugs and nudity a bit.

Best part about Reed has to be the Dr. Demento speeches, though.

Congrats. I grew up near Reed, amazingly weird place. Prepare to join a naked ultimate frisbee league.

prooftheory 12-17-13 01:07 PM

Reed is tough to get into. You should feel proud Sherblock even if you are a hippy.

+1

All heckling aside, it's a great school, and it means that you're smart and (probably) cool if you got in. Congrats Sherblock.

My younger sister (also best friend) went to school there while I was studying at Humboldt State Univ in norcal. We're only 2yrs apart so we visited each other w friends a few times. Portland is pretty rad.

spRICE 12-17-13 03:07 PM

Wish I had applied to Portland schools :(.

TMonk 12-17-13 03:46 PM

even though Davis sucks (geographically), you guys have a killer WCCC collegiate cycling team, as you have discovered.

also UCD is a good school too. what u study?

spRICE 12-17-13 03:49 PM

I'm studying electrical engineering and I don't regret coming to Davis, but Portland seems like such a cool place :D. Besides, if I hadn't come to Davis, chances are I wouldn't be biking at all.

TMonk 12-17-13 05:31 PM

nice man EE is a great way to go. i wish i woulve done something more electromechanical for BS

oh, and cycling is cool too :thumb:

craigcraigcraig 12-17-13 05:31 PM

Today I took a break from finals crap and went for a mtb ride. 60* on dec 17th is too good to be true. so was the ride.
