^^Awesome. I was hoping they had decent customer service, the guy seemed nice when I spoke with him before.

I'm hoping that the top cap falls out of some bubble wrap or something when I get home and can really unbox things properly.

I'll have to double check, but I don't believe it was in there. I pretty much just opened the box up and removed the frame/fork and did a quick glance to make sure nothing was damaged during shipping. That's when I noticed the top cap and bolt appeared to be missing.

Heading home in 20 or so to unbox it all.

It should have come complete with a top cap and starnut. It's most likely in the box somewhere.

I've never seen a threadless headset that doesn't.

Bikes: everywhere

Today I made a poor tire choice.

Crashed a bit.

Found some poison oak, I think.

Great day on the trail.

Yeah, I'm good. Heading down a muddy, grassy run into a sharp left turn through a ditch and onto pavement. Hit the front brake just a little harder than Michelin Country Rocks could handle in that mess. Nice long slide on my ass. I'm not sure how I managed to transition so smoothly from bike riding to ass sliding - I didn't snag any body parts on bike parts at all. Strange cuz I didn't lay it down in the normal sense. Bike slid to the right but I bailed over the bars onto ass. Guess I'm glad I was riding BMX platforms.

Somehow both shifters got packed full of mud and grass and were pointed pretty much straight towards the stem. So I had to spend a couple minuted digging that crap out to even release my brakes. Only had 1x9 after that, though.

today i finally rode my bike for the first time since january

had an opportunity to finally test out the risers on the 722 and theyre good, perfect short run bike but after an hour my hands got a little bored
vans grips get a thumbs up

legs suck so hard though, and my hip injury is coming back after sitting around so much for 2 months. ugh.

Gonna finish the build tonight. LBS was cool enough to drop what they were doing and cut my fork for me this afternoon and only charged me like 10 dollars for the labor and a spacer.

Today I got up to ~170rpm on flat ground @35 mph in the wind. It was scary without brakes

... felt a glimmer of hope, as I rode in only one layer in high-50s temperatures. It was glorious.

Tonight I went out and broke in my new CX tires on some fire roads. All was going well, these tires rock, then I got a pinch plat on the descent. I replace the tube and make it down the trail to the main road before a small puncture flats me again! Ok, pull over and fix it. The glue in my patch kit is dried out.

I managed to ride the several miles back to the co-op by using the dried glue and a patch as a temporary fix and I'm surprised it lasted that long. It also sucks to flat when you're out in the mountains at night by yourself. There be cayotes and pumas about!

Good to hear that you did some damage to the car - are you and your bike ok?
