Rode 50 miles, perfect weather


It has come a long way from the -15F/-45F windchill we had a few weeks back, and the 24+ inches of snow we got last week is almost gone already.

I got the Univega and now I need time to strip it down and rebuild.

Today I took out my swagged out back up roadie for a ride and I think I like it more than my primary. I may end up selling the replacement frameset I get.

Servo power! It'll open bottles too if you don't have one handy during a mid-ride drink..

Nice! My old Univega Super Special was second only to my Pinarello Record on my all time favorite road bike I've owned list.

It's so damn pristine, last time it came up I asked if he'd sell the frameset and he was down but i just couldn't pull the trigger.
I feel like I would beat the bike up too much to own it, only had the leader for a year and about half the paint is missing.

Sounds good. I hope this thing turns out well because it's what I have been looking for with in a long distance road bike except it doesnt have rack mounts and it's only a 62cm. I know a guy that picked up a 64cm Trek that is exactly what I want and he won't even consider selling it to me :-|

Must have been scary as ****. I'm gonna bet he didn't see you until he had committed to passing. Any remote two lane road with minimal shoulder must be a bad scene on a bike.

I went on a twenty miler with the track bike today to dial in new pedal/shoes(woowoo ultegra 6800). Scotchguarded my new tent and grabbed some cheapish 6.5speAkers with box for the pick up. Also got my obra card/numbers for this year, ready to get my cat5 on.

he probably couldn't see you from way back where he started his pass, and that was a totally legal maneuver...

im not so sure he did anything wrong. just another reason why cycling is so dangerous.

Yeah, I don't fault him too much...maybe a little cuz he was in 50mph and was going a lot faster.

It was a bunch clenching moment when he went by tho.

You're allowed to briefly speed in order to safely pass.

Today I am leaving from Tampa FL, flying back to New England, Maine just in time for another Polar Express, wondering WTF I'm doing, sticking to NE when there's riding weather elsewhere.

That's true. I forgot California is more of a "go-fast" state.

My lunch ride felt fantastic today! Feelin' fast, avg'd ~175bpm for the central hour.

I had to reign it in a few times and slow down in the middle because I was going to hard. Woah Nelly!

I installed a new oven and microwave today. Looks good.

I don't get why you called the driver an *******. Perfectly legal and fine.

Because the guy passed someone in 50mph zone going about 70mph and gave me 1' of space in the process when the damn stop sign he was approaching was less than a mile away.

Perhaps I'm an idiot for riding my bike on Sunday on a crappy chip seal road that goes to a lake full of drunken morons, but I have every right to be on that road as well, and to take the lane if necessary. Had I been in the lane due to some debris or deteriorating road, that guy would have hit me head on. And that is why I called him an *******. What if I had been on a motorcycle, would passing the car be legal and fine then?

Edit: this is silly. I'm fine and have a cool bit of video to share on the internet. I don't really care that much. It just seemed like a bit of an irresponsible thing to do, thats all.
