I bought some of that today as well. I will try it after my 12oz batch of gel is gone. I've been tearing up the kitchen lately making gels, sky cakes. (which were good) I think I will try to cook some meth now.

Went on a quick ride in the morning and caught the circuit at the end of Stage 7 of the ToC in the afternoon. All in all a pretty good day, now it's beer o'clock.

50lbs is ginormous. That will last all summer. I only got an 8oz bag for 2 bucks at a home brew store. I used this ratio with 12 oz water it equals out to the same stats per oz as most gel packs . Here is the calculator i used Recipe Nutrition Facts, Recipe Nutrition Calculator, Calories in a Recipe | MyFitnessPal.com | MyFitnessPal.com

Thanks. My friend keeps the sack and we take 2.5 pounds at a time. The 2.5lbs lasts quite a while when I'm just using it to add to my water.

^that is awesome, i love homeade ride food.

my favorite is purple sticky rice, scrambled eggs bacon and peanut butter bars (pain in the dick to make)

or 3 ingredient larabar jobs, equal parts nuts, dates, and dried fruit of your choice (i like apricots) - food process them till it sticks together and roll em out and cut it into bars

Apparently one of my friends had been trying to make gels too. He said he keeps trying to make them coffee flavored but they taste like ass.

I generally don't eat much or at all on my rides, I tend to feel bogged down the rest of the way if I eat anything mid ride. When I do, it's a piece of fruit, usually a banana or a pear.

Today(yesterday) I rode the puch, which I am really enjoying having that as the 2nd option and finally got around to putting the 2nd set of bottle cage mounts on the steamroller.

dates are amazing for me too, there so nice and sweet so its a positive reinforcement, clif bars are great for energy but i gravitate towards the sweet ones cuz the peanutbutter type ones leave the feeling like my mouth is dry and theres a brick in my stomach

if im dumb and didnt bring anything i like to get a few of the snickers peanut butter squares at the deli and eat of the squares one every half hour or so. if its really hot they turn into a gel, lol

but i always always bring bananas

Yesterday I:

Had a 35ish mile beer ride.
Had a guy pull out in front of me while I was going about 30mph (waiting to see how bad it looks on my friend's GoPro)

Picked up one of these:

I've been wanting a cheap steel bike for weekend rides and locking up dowtown. This should do it

Did a 105 miles/3500~ft yesterday fixed for Reach the Beach was supposed to be rainy but I said screw it and took off my fenders, ended up being mostly sunny. Surprisingly easy for what it was, just ran 48x19 for the climb section and then 48x16 for the final 70 miles then my lady friend has a beach house nearby so we hung out and day drank all day. Pretty much a perfect weekend.

Had to get an obligatory RtB photo.

and a beach shot.

Today I convinced the girl I've been shackin' up with that spin classes were stupid and she should just get an actual bike. She now has a Cannondale Synapse.

Today some tweaker brought in two hubs, two rims and a pile of spokes (all freshly spray-painted red) and wanted me to drop what I was doing to rebuild his wheels. After a brief exchange about the way things work, he left me no other option but to very politely instruct him to get the **** out of my shop.

He took apart his wheels to spray paint them? That's novel.
