Sorry T13, they may work for you but I'm not a fan. Just my personal preference. Anyway, today I decided to break out the shield for my Air Attack helmet. It was sunny and it's what I use for sunglasses when I ride. For some reason it felt like I was in a video game. I think it was how the visor framed my field of vision. All I needed was a heads up display to make the immersion complete.

No sorrys needed. Like you said, they work for me, and have for years.

Because your hands are on the outer side of the bar, rather than just resting your palms on the bar, are you forced to "Squeeze" or "Hold On"?

Oh, yeah. But I don't really kung fu grip unless i have to, ya know? Been riding them so long, I don't really think about it. For me, it's pretty comfortable. When I first started riding bullhorns, I hadn't seen them for sale anywhere, so I just flipped and chopped the track drops i had, and never went back. An old bike looks weird to me with some of the newer style pursuit bullhorns. I like the curves in track bars, so i leave them a little longer. Might not be comfortable to others though, I can totally see that.

My chain popped off when going down a huge hill. I don't use a brake ever but am sure glad I have one for emergency. A potential nightmare turned into nothing.
Tightened that sucker and shouldn't have that problem again.

On road cycling you barely even need your hands, even when climbing.
This is a good article.
You have less control of your mountain bike. – Yes…it is true. While you may think that you have more control by keeping a strong grip on the handlebars, the exact opposite is actually true. When you keep a really tight grip on the handlebars it is harder to react to the ever changing conditions of mountain biking.

Loosely goosey. Loosely goosey
Rigid frame MTBs really teach you to keep a loose grip. You will be in a world of hurt if you don't.

i understand the idea behind more control with a loose grip, ive owned motorcycles and know the rules. but i get a lot more power if im pulling up on the bars and pushing down on the pedals

Yeah those are the tires it came with. They are pretty worn. Looking for some new ones right now.
List of things i still need:
Tires
Bottom Bracket
Seat (saddle)
Seat Post (saddle post?)
Making this list just reminded me of that arguement, with Squidpuppet, i think, about how the seat on a bike isn't called a "seat" but it's called a "saddle".
So why the f*ck isn't the seatpost called a "saddlepost"?
