On that note, I'm heading to Fiesta Island to do a 20' FTP test. This is going to suck.
This will be my first test in nearly 2 months due to my time off the bike/injuries/accident. I'm shooting for 290w, let's see what happens... Turns out that taking 6 weeks off the bike is bad for your fitness, who knew?

I just got off the phone with my insurance agent, and she assured me that they would take care of any legal problems with my crazy neighbor under my homeowner's insurance policy. If I do in fact receive any legal papers, I should just FAX them to my agency and they will forward them to their Allstate lawyers who will promptly ream my neighbor a new butthole. Her only admonition was to cut off any further communication with my neighbor, which should be easy.
I spent a restless night worrying about this crap, and can now get in a decent bike ride before the next round of thunderstorms. :) |

What Cat are you ? Either you are racing Cat 5 and not being challenged by that field, or you are an extraordinary talent that can get by without any speed and recovery interval training. I can tell you that when I raced Cat 2, I could not have succeeded w/o it. Also, are those Crits you race in all fast speedway types with no slow turns, because otherwise you would need to constantly accelerate hard out of turns and recover quicky before the next turn, or you would blow up in short order, get lapped and get pulled.

Do it! As previously mentioned, I know plenty of guys who race but don't train. You will need to "train" (execute specific workouts) to reach your full potential, but you don't need to reach P/1/2 to feel good about yourself and enjoy racing. Hell, I've been a cat 3 for like 5 years.
I rarely do any structured workouts(outside of gym time), mainly just some spirited rides when I'm feeling it and do alright in the 3/4 crit and track fields. Racing is just expensive as hell though. |
You guys ought to join the BFSSFG Strava group.

Today on my way to work, a guy blew through two stop signs like they weren't there to inform me I didn't come to a complete stop at an intersection (where he also had the stop sign, not me) and "cut him off". Dude was actually mad that my having the right of way forced him to stop at a stop sign!
I suggested he pull over in a parking lot up ahead so we could talk about it and he sped off. People often blow my mind. |
Yep. Everybody's tough, when they are in their car. I had an air horn one summer, that I would blast in peoples faces when I caught them at a stoplight. One in particular, was a lady putting on her make up while driving and trying to "bully" me with her car/horn, telling me to "get on the sidewalk". Probably would've told me to get OFF the sidewalk, had I been "inconveniencing" her on her lunch break walk, downtown.

Oh man i have endless stories of **** like that riding around in SF -- My weapon of choice is usually swear words at loud volumes. It's effective.
|
I like when they talk tons of ****, then speed off, get stopped at a light, and forget to lock their door.
|
i like to smile and wave as if im super excited to see a friend i havent seen in a long time
blows their ****ing minds. |
If they have their arms resting out the window I ride up and give them an Indian Burn.
|
Eh to lazy to do anything with an unlocked door. Rolled down windows are key in the delivery of said words :thumb:

I expect you to have similar success in the 4's - and I'm looking forward to reading those reports! |

Time to upgrade @TheRealFaux !!! I'm not sure how strict the guys are in your district wrt the 10 races rule, but your race results are certainly telling.

Spotted Jared Leto on his fixed gear and bright green hair in Soho. I would have snapped a picture but he was riding by.
Also, while in Soho, I went suit shopping for the 3 weddings I have to go to this summer and everything is SLIM fit. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but these damn biker thigh and calves. I walked in and the guy just looks at my legs and goes "yeah, you'll have to size up and take in the waist". |
