Nice! Might as well finish the first book. I haven't been very interested in fantasy/sci fi for a while. How are you liking it so far? My coworkers and I just had our inaugural meeting for a summer book club. We read Demian by Herman Hesse. I wasn't a huge fan. Any suggestions for our second book (~300 +/- pg.), dudes? I am vying for A Confederacy of Dunces or One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Yesterday I rode some gnarly, techy trail along the inlet covered in roots and rocks. No flow whatsoever but a fun challenge to avoid putting a foot down. We are getting lots of bear sightings now so we made lots of warning noise to avoid startling one, just in case.

If you like massive universes in a Sci-fi setting, try the Ian M. Banks "Culture" novels.

and Larry Niven, his Ringworld series are my favoritest books of ever. enormous theoretical science universe that ties all of his books together

ps: get a bell and attach it to your bike somewhere that moves around a lot, wont have to worry about periodically yelling into the woods like a crazy person

We've taken our dog to doggie training class once a week for six weeks. Tonight is the big test to get his "Good Citizen's Award". The pressure is on! I asked if there were a "Bandito" award.

MSR pocket rocket, stores super small and a lot of ultralight backpackers/bikepackers seem to like it

seems to make coffee in the same time as my kitchen stove so looks good so far

yeah, thats a great little stove. Ive got an old MSR whisperlite international. They make some good stuff.

I have been considering a jetboil, a lot of guys i camp with have them. it seems like a convenient little system...

This time probably never existed. You either have repressed memories that won't show themselves until you turn 40, or you got lucky and yer Scoutmaster(master of the scouts) was just awesome, and didn't spike the peach cobbler with cough syrup.......

Thx for the replies. Im really enjoying Dune, 169 pages in and some exciting things have happened. I don't think I will go on to the others unless it absorbs me and I must know more. I have been reading more lately and I have other books I want to get to.

Another Eagle here.

I also miss the scouting days, and all the trips we made, esp. backpacking and hiking.

i hated all the formalities of it, literally the only thing i liked about scouts was the camping and hiking trips, i never made it to eagle, scouts took up all my time from the aforementioned pot smoking. had to get my angsty teenage priorities straight yaknow

scouting has installed such a deep military industrial complex in my mind that i can't even fathom NOT voting republican, or the thought of my children being in public school with gays

#typicalscout
#srsly
#omgright ?

but srsly though, most of the reasons to hate on scouting are besides the point
