Today I (v2):
is it hard to get into the trade unions over there? over here you have to be one of the lucky 250 to get there a week before to camp outside the place where theyre giving out lottery tickets where 40 of those then 250 people will get called to take a test and whittled down further
No lottery, interview is pass/fail, acceptance in order of test scores. Only thing I'm worried about is the drug test haha (Jk I'll pass), Oh and my best bros' dad is on the board.
Apps go in next month for SF local. Apprenticeship starts a bit after.

Checked out an 04 legacy wagon yesterday. Looked nice, drove well, just had all regular maintenance. Had to damn near fight the dealer for the carfax.
Almost 40 incidents. Pass.

A local restaurant is having a "have dinner with the winemaker" deal for local AZ wines. Caduceus and Merkin Vineyards is the first one, 30 seats available...got the email this morning, called this afternoon, sold out.
Totally bummed I missed my chance to have dinner with Maynard from Tool.

Nitto stem
Speaking of which, this one is pretty neat:

Good luck! I considered joining the IBEW in FL and my electrician friend told me apprentices start at $9/hr. Wasn't worth it to me. Hopefully your situation is better.
In other news I have been hiking and rock climbing a ****load out here. The bikes I have to work on suck but having 5+ hours of daylight after I clock out and amazing coworkers to hang with makes it all worthwhile. At least half my coworkers are people from medical/engineering/chemical backgrounds who decided the 9-5 grind was killing them and are reassessing life up here. Yesterday I finished building a platform for my hobo shack that overlooks the airstrip and downtown with a 10 min ride to work. I'll try to post a couple photos next week after I hang the tarp roof and mosquito netting.

the faceplate has a bit of an "afterthought" vibe considering it comes from nitto
NYC lives on unions, some of the grocery stores even have unions, but in general teh trades all pay really well even starting out as an apprentice. the lottery isnt on all of them but in a month im gonna camp out to try and get into the carpenters union.
only the first 250 ppl are getting a lottery # and only 40 of them will be picked but youre basically in after that, provided you dont piss out heroin and belong in a mental institution.

While we're talking stems, anybody ever use a quill to threadless stem adaptor? I like the look of my Cinelli 1A stem but threadless opens up so many options.

Today the tendonitis in my left shoulder is acting up again. I can barely lift my arm w/o excruciating pain. Doesn't look like I'll be riding my bike today.
I could not imagine working for 9 dollars an hour.
