guys I need to get a rack, only problem is the Kona rove has stupid mid-fork mounts that don't actually fit any rack. I think. Plus, it doesn't have canti posts, which makes it extra hard to find anything. Does anyone know what type of mounts these are? You can see the pic for the weird location.

For lowrider rack.

and those too!

Sherblock 08-16-15 03:16 PM

The main problem is that Kona mounted them too low. None of those classic ones fit since the arms are always a bit short.

I was hoping to get more of a porteur/single bag rack, since I don't need front panniers at this point. I think I might just go with a cheap one from Wald, and then buy a waterproof tote bag to throw in it.

Mumonkan 08-16-15 03:21 PM

the nitto mark rack has arms you can change for shorter/longer ones, and they come longer than pictured for you to trim later on

theres also this jawn

fire up some P-clamps from HD and stick it wherever you want :thumb:

or just get a cetma 5-rail and call it a day

Oh yeah, didn't think of that. Those do tend to have stubby struts.

2 - 24 hour convenience stores
2 - gas stations
2 - post offices
1 - mall
2 - stores (Target and Wally World)
4 - grocery stores (2 of them are 24 hour super stores)
2 - bike shops
3 - sub shops
14 - restaurants (though not all good, like Chili's)
1 - police station
1 - fire station
1 - Chinese take out place that is open on Sundays
1 - MUP that connects me to a main road with a bike lane that will get me to downtown/campus easily
1 - lame mountain bike trail that runs on the backside of my complex
1 - farmers market in the summer

There is a lot more, but last night after riding home, dropping my work stuff off, letting the dog out, and riding up the 24 hour grocery and more store, I started realizing that I have it pretty good as far as location goes. The roads are not really ideal for riding as they are higher traffic/higher speed roads. Riding them at 12:15 at night however is decent. Did some grocery shopping for a few things and packed them in my bag and rode home. Could have easily taken the car but why?

Every time I choose the bike over the car, I feel like I recover a small piece of my soul.

Today I went through 6x 25oz bottlefuls of water during my ride.

Did you need a proportional number of "nature breaks"?

Generally speaking, I disagree. Any time I ever rode with a group it always turned into a competition. I'd much rather ride alone.

That's kinda why I like it. Pushes me harder than I would by myself. And the ride usually splits into two different groups, one that pushes a bit harder, and a group that is a lot more chill.

It was 100+ in San Jose today. I might ride when the sun goes down lol

Surprisingly few for the amount I consumed, I sweated most of it out.
It was a struggle against nature to stay hydrated. Thankfully I didn't have to resort to what my cousin Gryll does.

That's cool. I couldn't find the full specs. Where are the batteries kept?

I see they make a clip in light, but I was thinking more about actual built in when I said "integrated". I wonder if they would sell well. I see more and more people with lights on their seat posts every year. It's becoming the norm in this area.

Bicycle people make me laugh.

Or you could opt for the $100 non s-works option (however, the s-works one was featured in the article and showed the water bottle holder):
Specialized Bicycle Components

I crashed again yesterday (apparently, I should take up jogging) and dislocated my clavicle. My body hurts and oxy does nothing for me.

Unkle Rico 08-17-15 09:50 AM

Today i need to figure out if i want to jump to a threadless headset dealio or stick with threaded. I have all the pieces to do threadless but I'd have to buy some handle bars or i could by a new threaded headset which would probably be about the same cost in the end.

What do to what to do what to do

I wisely rode before work, instead of to work. Stayed dry. Go me.

Yeah, I guess...they just said it was a "Stage 3 dislocaition" - whatever that means. It certainly hurts.

I want one soo bad! I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

My Straggler makes a great commuter bike, so I think it will be around for a long time.

Got an almost 10% raise on my last paycheck.
