Cool. So you disassembled a freewheel and removed its cog along with the internals, then you brazed on a coaster style cog. That is a great way to make a fixed cog when you can't source one. I learned one more trick, thanks.

Please don't go advising people to do this. This is really really stupid.
The reason you can do this with MTBs is because of the differences in air pressure.

You CANNOT use a nontubeless road tire as a tubeless tire. You're gonna blow the bead and die.

you think it will be strong enough without a fillet bead? I'm thinking about possible lateral flex causing a problem.

It is billed as more difficult than other forms of welding, but I really grooved on it, like riding a motorcycle vs. driving a car with auto transmission.

Hoping I pick it up quickly since I can gas weld pretty well.

That would be rad but I don't have a welder for myself or a frame fixture. A lugged frame would be doable.

Thanks guys.

Also, I might have been yelling "ahhh, go Rohan, omg omg, you got this!" or some other gibberish. I imagine it was a bit surprising for some of them to actually hear a fan yell out their name, I got a number of looks that day. Ted King came pretty close to running me over.

I figured out how to make Dia Compe centerpulls release easily for wheel removal with cross tires on. I just need to scavenge a couple parts from my dad.

Today I'll stop by my local library branch and pick up the book that I've had on hold, Grant Petersen's "Just Ride". Maybe I'll discover what all of the fuss is about...

Cool. You're creating some sort of cyborg bike thingy using living tissue from your Father. Awesome!

By coincidence, I just ordered a copy, it should arrive in a few days. I am guessing I already espouse several of his ideas and my bikes reflect it (poor man's Rivendells of sorts).

I guess I too will find out.
