Yeah mechanix gloves are great, I have a couple pairs in the garage.

I personally ride gloveless. I just can't stand riding in gloves for long as they make me feel restricted. It has to do with the "feel" and how I'm more so directly connected with my bike.
In my opinion the minor inconvenience of road rash on my hands (usually my palms bare the brunt of any roadrash) when it seldom happens is unable to outweigh the prior. I haven't lost any fingers yet.

I also guess that's another benefit of being shorter in relation to "the taller they are the harder they fall". #mlig

Day to day riding i don't wear gloves but for longer rides i wear something with minimal padding.

I like golf gloves for biking.

I rock some Giro full fingered gloves(no padding and about thirty bucks), only wear them when racing or chilly days.

I have BB86 in a crabon frame and I'm hearing creaking when I'm putting out my babywatts, but I'm not even sure its my bb. Could be my pedals/cleats/shoes since I haven't maintained them at all, but any creaking automatically registers in my mind as press fit bb issues now.

I also prefer to ride gloveless, but I wouldn't call road rash on your hands a "minor" inconvenience .

It is seldom, though. As I previously mentioned, I have never had road rash on my hands in 8 yrs of riding, but it is bad enough to have me consider gloves for daily riding.

I took the harder way out. Got in a nasty crash where I had massive road rash from my shoulder down to my hand one that ended up getting infected because they apparently hand out medical degrees to people.
Wasn't killed and became stronger and immune to road rash.

He'd probably argue that I sucked at installing the new one. I don't think its' the bearings creaking but more the entire press fit bracket itself creaking.

Simple solution, wear earbuds, then I can't hear it at all.

I'm telling you...bb30 and pf30 creak. that's just part of it. pull it apart when it starts, clean and repeat when necessary.

Gloves: I like the old school crochet and leather such as these . Comfortable and well ventilated, though as Mumonkan warns these will really give you weird tan lines.

Press Fit BB: Never owned one, but enough of the guys I ride with, complain about them creaking and not lasting, that I have come to fear them. All of them are on "carpet fiber" frames, for whatever that is worth.

None of my rental fleet creaks, boys.

If I do run gloves I run Giro Zero's.

I have had road rash on my hands. **** sucks, yo. Even minor scratching up of palms makes riding unbearable.

This was going downhill ~30mph and me flying off the bike superman style. I'm glad it wasnt skin getting shredded. Hands were numb for what felt like 10 minutes after at impact.

I usually don't palm the road when I crash. One time I did though, was when I didn't check my front QR, jumped off curb and into a swath of cinders. Front wheel ejected, fork dug into pavement and I went in palms first. I had a cinder (almost a 1/4" diameter) submarine under my skin for about a half inch, so I had to X-acto it outta there.

Wore summer gloves for a little while after that but don't bother these days. They don't put cinders on the road here, anyway.

Didn't race tonight because it was raining, I'm turning into a roadie.

Hurt my left quad/knee doing a leg press yesterday. Less weight than normal, so I'll chalk it up to the fact I ran before going and was in running shoes with a lot of padding, which I'm not used to.

Also those MASH gloves are rad as hell.

Non minimal running shoes are terrible for everything. I have laffy taffy ankles; I probably have about 6 sprains a year.

Like being on stilts.

There have also been studies that showed the opposite. The latest running fad has been "maximalist" shoes. Runners are as bad as roadies when it comes to buying the latest thing.

Seriously. My shop is next to a running shoe store and their customers are pretty ridiculous.

I won't run unless something is on fire or I'm being chased by something that wants to eat me.

My favorite running shoes are asics mexico 66's despite them being relegated to "casual" shoes overtime due to "developments" despite their olympic pedigree.

People who buy into "fads" such as "maximalist" shoes are filthy casuals. I've seen more of them at the gym if anything, especially new balance 980's with the putrid honeycomb pattern. Worn by people whose bodies scream "I've never ran a mile in their life".
