Today I finished up the install of a new fork and headset.
The stock Bianchi fork was 28mm offset/78mm trail. This fork has a more reasonable 41mm offset/63mm trail and the bike seems to have much quicker steering based on a short ride around the cul de sac this evening. Daylight tomorrow will tell the full story.

It was my first headset install - took my time, measured twice and cut once and everything went really well. It's almost a shame to hide such a pretty fork behind a brake.

So clean.

Which headset did you end up going with? I have the same bike and have been thinking about getting a new headset

Cane Creek 110.Classic.EC30 threadless

The top is EC30/25.4/H16/K
The bottom is EC30/26/H12/K

Part number BAA0449x

I like the more austere look of it. Like you said, clean. They also make a 40 series which is a little less expensive.

CC has a fit finder at Headset Fit Finder | Cane Creek Cycling Components. Their customer service guys are great. I called several times and they answered my questions every time, very patient and helpful.

I also bought the adapters so that the headset press doesn't press on the outer edges of the cups.

Huge thanksgiving weekend planned. Have a couple of friends coming up for the weekend, so we're gonna hit all three mountains.

Hamilton Thursday, Mount Diablo, Friday, and Mt. Tamalpais Saturday.

Gonna be a lot of elevation gain.

Oh that wasnt even a real route lol. Just something for my friend to do while I was at school. I've don't that route before and its some pretty decent climbing.

Minimum of 18000 ft climb this weekend if we do all three mountains.

Hey guys, Heavy Pedal has new kits in and their Black Friday sale code is BLK25. I picked up one of their new kits for $114 shipped yesterday.

Good backup plan for crappy weather, but hopefully you will get a break and get to ride outside plenty.

Cheers

Seriously, that wallpaper probably dings you for 10 watts on the trainer and 20 lbs on the bench press.

Today I've decided that my next bike is going to be a 29er hardtail disc MTB, probably going to be a long time before I can even start it but I feel that will complete my bike stable.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

(well somebody had too)

Today I plan to eat too much turkey and then go for the traditional "turkey burner" ride, which if I am honest is just a leisurely ride in the country.

Life is good.

Hey everyone - Chrome is having a site wide 25% off sale, including their sale items. It goes through Monday at midnight I believe. Messenger Bags & Laptop Bags | Footwear & Apparel | Chrome Industries no I don't work for them nor am I a shill. Just passing on a good deal. New SPD shoes ordered since they are on sale.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Today, I will be at work making some sick double time and a half. Unfortunately it is raining out so the car will see some duty.

That reminds me of my skating days. I would be sore, have egg sized bruises on my shins, but then watch an old Plan B skate video and find myself all amped up again/ready to go out.
