Thanks.

No, my back definitely isn't adjusted properly haha. I was borrowing it from my dad. In addition to fitting weird, it's a little small (50L). I'm thinking of purchasing my own in the ~65L range and having it fitted at the store, for future trips.

Unbelievable! Ultegra to boot! Already enjoying the ride tremendously.
I can't believe you let it go. Didn't ride it much?

Not very much at all. Which made me a little more sad than letting go of it.

Today I leave for Tokyo. I may check out Blue Lug if I'm in the area -- I'm a huge fan of their builds and it'd be cool to check them out in person...

Those things are incredibly heavy. Cast lead, I'm pretty sure.

No doubt, just get some r540s for $40, cleats included:
Amazon.com: Shimano SPD-SL PD R-540 - Black

If you shop around, you can probably get the 105s for $50

I'm only paying $20 for the set. They weigh as much as my current metal platform/cage/strap.

I built up a single speed bike for a buddy. We bartered for some electrical work. I quite like bartering.

definitely need a different car. 25 years ago I had a Porsche 911 and could only carry the bike on a roof rack. The 911 went-got to keep your priorities straight

Late August 2012. Traded in my Audi A4 for that Mustang. Had wanted one since I was a kid. My mom had a 67.5 way back in the day and lots of my friends had them. Never had the chance. Moved out of the house that my wife was living in and started my life over again. Turned 40 the next month. Call it a mid life crisis, call it whatever you want. I call it starting over.

Mid September - driving to work on a nice warm fall day. Younger attractive woman with dreads pulls up at the light next to me in a Prius. I am minding my own business, windows down, music on. She screams over to me...."Hey, you are killing the f&(king environment with that thing!!!!) That night I got on the web and was looking for a F&(K your Prius sticker just for that lady when I chanced upon a site that sold funny car stickers. I found one that said 40+ MPG. I bought it, and it was born. The plate came a short while later. 40MPG was not available so I had to make do with FRTYMPG. I ditched the plate last year.
