i had a recurring nightmare of getting caught in a tornado when i was really young
then one day i was fishing at the beach around age 10, and a very small tornado formed and touched down right at the end of the beach where i was. in less than 5 mins the sky went from patchy clouds to pitch black night, crazy ass winds throwing everyones packed coolers and chairs everywhere, turned over the portapotties in the parking lot. i ran as fast as i possibly could to our car and by the time we all got in and were stuck in the chaos of everyone driving away from the beach it passed after that i never had that nightmare again |

suggest things for me to melt my brain with Have a note pad and warm up first. This requires lots on mental gymnastics. The payoff is huge. Momento is a lazy stroll in the park compared to this. TRIPPY and a bit scary. I've had month long discussions with other film fans about the meaning of this movie. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51%2BxLUzlOeL.jpg |

Battlestar Galactica
EIGHT year later I decided to give it a look. I felt like an idiot. It's some of the best political and human struggle drama I have ever seen. |
There is more substance in that show than I would ever expect. I was just looking for another decent Sci Fi show to watch and I was riveted.

Weird experience today during my ride. I was near the end of my ride and pretty much gassed. I came up on a group of six people going really slow, painfully slow. My screen name should help you know that I am not a fast riders by any standard. So, given I was gassed I was happy to find this group and take it easy. After about 3-4 minutes the person I was behind asked me if I wanted to pass, I said sure, given she had pulled off the trail. Then, in a super ***** voice, she said, "Next time you should just ask!!!" I yelled back that I am at the end of my ride, gassed, and was fine following, and you do not need to be rude. Then, the next two folks moved off the trail, but the three leaders did not (and they were just as slow). Maybe they were unhappy about me following, I really do not know. I might be doing a good job of describing it. It was just weird.
|
How closely were you following them? If you were staying relatively close, it's polite you make yourself known and be sure they're ok with you joining their group.
|
yeah....same here. even if i'm just cruising i get in the zone sometimes and if some ****er sneaks up on me i get kinda pissed.
|
I am sure from her attitude that she thought I was too close. However, I was not any closer than anyone else in the group. I was not trying to join their group, but she did not know that, obviously. I have ridden MTBs for a bit over 30 years, and I have not had anyone seem so pissed off in a situation like this. Then, for the group to box me in was kind of strange. Just weird... But, as I sit in my comfy chair watching a little football, I am guessing I will have forgotten about it by tomorrow.
And, I did not say anything as I approached, because she saw me coming from a ways away. |
havent even been able to use my camera yet and im already planning diy sliders and cable cams and ****.

It's not about being too close, it's just a courtesy thing. If you're as close to them as each other, then it's customary to introduce yourself -- I've never had anyone say no to tagging along with them for a bit in those situations. It's considered a bit rude to do it without asking, is all. Either hang back a bit, pass immediately, or say hi and actually join them, if you're keeping the same pace and want to.

Today I changed the handlebar tape on my bike, kind of rushed it but I like how it came out. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=495365

Wiped out pretty hard in the rain today. Hit a gnarly slick spot crossing some railroad tracks and the front end slid right out from under me. Luckily I wasn't really prepared for the fall, so I didn't tense up. Jammed three fingers and got some road rash. It's mostly my fault since I hadn't given any thought to it before I went to cross them.

Yesterday I rode the devil and the devil is friggin' fast. By the devil I refer to the Specialized Turbo, their performance e-bike. It looks sleek but still has all the weight and clunkiness you want in an e-bike. I got on it really wanting to hate it because it is the devil but man was it fun zooming around with little effort at decent speeds. I wouldn't buy one but it is was a cool experience.

I have ridden that and the Stromer 2, both are extremely fun to ride. I kind of wanted one, even came close to buying the Stromer, but they are not that well supported yet in my opinion.
If I were to buy an excess bike I would go for my 540 geared bike: A Pinion 1.18 gear box (18 speed crank system) and a SRAM DD3 hub which is a 3 speed hub that can accept a 10 speed cassette. Ideally I would also run a double at the front but I don't think it would be possible with the shape of the frame and the nature of their system, still 540 is quite a lot. I think good ole' Sheldon could only do 60-something in his day. |
I realized how much better (waaaaaaaaaaaaay better) black spokes will look if I'm lacing silver hubs to black rims, especially if I want to use colored nipples. Talk about dodging a bullet.
not bad.... https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1711/...1625527b_c.jpg Now we're talking! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1652/...c3e7c240_c.jpg |

Today I swapped the bullhorns back on the TK2, swapped the carbon aero post for a Cinelli Vai aluminum and got that dialed in pretty well. Worked a little on the SS Carve which will be seeing commuting duties now that the weather has finally turned. I also somehow lost the cap for the tube of Park Tools grease. I know it can just sit there open, but I like having things finished off, and that is definitely not finished.

Yeah, I noticed that too and it has me reconsidering using colored nipples. The alternating silver brake track/black rim/silver nipple/black spoke/silver hub look is on point.
