buncha parts for the mtb came in, including (but not limited to) a fork featuring suspension capabilities.
weird. went to fire it up when i got home, but in my excitement failed to realize that my carbon fork is internally routed, and i dont have the **** to bleed it and cut the hose. weak. went to at least put the crown race on and my ghetto PVC crown race setter is too small for tapered steerer. weak. so now i have to deal with this thing staring at me from across the room untill tomorrow. i measured and trimmed the steerer. there. at least i contributed to some productivity |

Today I had the opportunity to visit Moon Eyes in Santa Fe Springs, California.
Such a cool place. So much history there. I have always loved their spun aluminum wheel discs. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=515888http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=515889http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=515890 |

Moon Eyes is into salt racers and frequent El Mirage and Bonneville salt flats. |
113 mile ride today with another practice crit in the middle of that, and the .fit file is corrupted. This is what death feels like.

God is my God. To each his own.
Today I might go drive this... It's a turbo. White tho. http://8b70359907a4c604f894-bce949bc...46bf65cf7e.jpg Fuel pump works AFAIK. |
The new outback XTs are about the only thing I'd buy from Subaru today.
|
Forester XT is definitely on the short list after I run my Mk6 GTI into the ground.
|
I'd only buy an 08 or older. The latest generations are meh.
I wish the crosstrek made some power. |

I drove the 2.5i CVT and it had lots of pep for a small SUV. It was better than I thought it would be.
Not sure I really need a turbo in my life. Sure do want one though :). That one has everything - navigation, harmon kardon audio, lane departure warning, collision aviodance, etc. White tho. Anyway, passed on the test drive today. Whomever your God is, if mine wants me to have a turbo then it will still be there tomorrow, or next week for that matter. If I do get it then my turbo is going to go over to Nagrom's house and kick his turbo's ass. Then imma park mine infronna his mailbox. |

Today, I am smoked like a ham. 36 mile gravel/dirt road race. Figured that I would do alright. Better than the last time I did it in 2012 at least. 24 miles on a FS 26er mtb on that race vs 36 miles on a 70x32 cross bike with disc brakes on this one. Mileage didn't kill me. Legs didn't die. The climbing got me, and ripped me a new one. Cardio is not what I thought at all, and was handed to me on a platter today. Most of my riding is flat, seriously, like maybe 150ft of elevation on my commute to and from work. Today we tackled 2119 feet of climbing in a 80/20 mix of super dusty dirt/gavel roads and paved roads. Some were rolling hills and some were absolute butt kickers. I averaged 1.1 mph higher overall vs my last race which I am alright with given the conditions and overall terrain. Has dried up nicely here almost too nice. Sand came out of nowhere and was grabbing my tires and trying to pull me in. Never went down (that is definitely not what she said) but had a few really close calls with one putting me off the course. Coming down the hill at about 30 mph or so, and the dirt road just changes to sand at the bottom. No warning, nothing, but boom and you are there.
So the bike is hanging on the rack dusty as all get out. Clothes are covered in dust. I had dirt all over my face from sweating and then the dust hitting me. Took a shower, gonna get some Chinese food for dinner I think, and just vegetate the rest of the night. |
