Watched Paris-Roubaix in the morning, rode 30 miles after lunch, watched DH worldcup at night.

Also, today, I realized that all of the 1/8th inch drivetrain components (including the bits that harbor them) on this thing I am building were ill-considered and will be abandoned and sold for scrap prices.

What's wrong?

He said it was 32f. We can safely assume it was not long.

Today I can barely walk. Did a weekend overnight trip, ~60 miles down to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse hostel on Saturday, then ~40 miles over the mountains via Stage Rd and Tunitas Creek to the train back home yesterday. Fixed, and I carried the beer. Not the longest ride I've done fixed, but by far the most difficult with all the extra weight and significant amount of climbing. I also played the "pretend I don't have a front brake" game, which got sketchy on the steep and curvy descents while loaded. So much respect for people who do rides like that actually brakeless, I had to grab it a couple times.

In the 5's, stay towards the front because its safer and less people to deal with, but don't take pulls if you don't have to because it kills you. Preriding the course is nice so you know what to expect before you get to it instead of being taken by surprise.

A good skill to learn is knowing how to pull through without using all of your reserves. The cat 4/5's are like a bunch of baby rattlesnakes: you guys blow all your venom on the first bite. The race will be safer and faster if you learn to pull through, take a few digs on the front, then slide over to the right gracefully before you're too into the red. That way you can catch back on without losing too much ground or getting dropped.

@Muffin Man

Interesting. They based on distance and not time?

Probably predetermined laps (cat5 8 laps, cat4 10 laps etc), I know our weekly crit series does that with hot laps on certain laps.

Today I bought some Amys microwave burritos only to get home and realize I don't have a microwave.

Lol the laser lasted less than 24 hours before catching a call to the city from an ******* neighbor and getting marked "complaint - tow at any time - unregistered".

Now it's in the driveway.

Some people's parents should have beaten their child more, beaten the ******bag out of them....

Pretty frustrating. It's at least 100ft from anyone's house too. I parked it on a long stretch of vacant wall. Right ****ing next an old rusted out chevy pickup, and a totalled toyota yaris.

I THOUGHT THAT'S WHERE WE PUT THESE KINDS OF THINGS NEIGHBOR?

I know who called, and once it's registered I'm going to keep my car parked in front of his mailbox.

And my car was definitely the sweetest thing parked along that wall. Check this awesome retro future steez

Wild dash!

The parking in front of the mailbox made me laugh! Please do that at least once!

Nagrom_ 04-11-16 11:25 PM

I'm so serious about parking it in front of his mailbox. That is now honestly the most motivating reason to finish this car.

We have shared mailboxes in between all our houses. There is enough room to park there and block your own driveway. Or you can fit a small car there.

A 2 dr hatchback is pretty small lemme tell ya

The dash is sick. The car talks to you. Verbally says everything that is displayed on the systems check to the right. It loves to yell "transmission fluid pressure low" Hahaha isn't that cool just kidding I wish i didnt know it said that.

This car may just get an LS swap.

Mumonkan 04-12-16 04:26 AM

dude that thing is ****ing rad

Today I got my wave assignment for the gravel/dirt road race on Saturday. Did it 5 years ago, blew myself up the first mile and a half and suffered for the next 23 miles. On the wrong kind of bike, with the wrong size wheels. Upped the riding game, the bike, and the mileage. Opted for the 36 mile course with more climbing and more than likely a faster class of rider. Hope I didn't screw myself over.

heh. Apparently I'm fine for work in the shop but they want someone more experienced for the field work. But they knew I'm new to the trade... Boss man will still put in a good word for me as a reference.

Muffin Man 04-12-16 05:17 PM

92 miles today with a practice crit in the middle of that. Averaged 26mph for around 35 min, with a complete stop in the middle of that for a couple minutes in the middle because we had to wait for a red light. I'm told its mostly a P123 crowd, and I was able to hang on, so that's pretty cool.
