What is their concern? It can always be dressed with the next grit to achieve any suitable cosmetic appearance. Seems weird and a waste of their own money by forcing you to work at a less than ideally productive pace. |
Today I rode 50 miles fixed gear. This is my longest fixed gear ride yet.
Easy zone 2 for the first 35 miles with a few breaks. Pushed it into zone 3 for the final 15 miles. Managed 16MPH average nonetheless. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqv6k51i7a....rate.JPG?dl=1 -Tim- |
Today someone came into the shop and bought a $119 ISM PR 1.0 saddle to be put on a $400 Fuji MTB that is being used as a commuter. My buddy was actually trying to talk him out of it, but he was pretty insistent on getting it. He installed it, and I rung him up and held the door for him on the way out. Was a weird day.

Can't put a price on comfort. Would you talk someone out of a $100 Brooks saddle for their commuter bike?
|
Heh, I put a $125 Brooks on the $125 craigslist Cannondale touring bike I bought.

I don't usually mess around with fancy saddles. I do have a SID Race and $80 handlebars on a Walmart Mongoose I got for $20 tho.

10/10 - would ride!

I would love to see a fatbike race. Sounds like a ridiculous good time.
|
fatbike racing is great and hysterical, so much fun
unless youre out for 7 hours in thawing post-hole snow with frozen water then its mostly just fun at the end when you get drunk on barleywine and vegan chili |

I spent nearly $400 on some s-works shoes today. That **** is like designer!!!
Once I zoom out and have experienced the shoes for a while, the whole thing will really open up my perspective on consumerism and productization within cycling retail markets. I have experience using bargain bin and second-hand pairs of cycling shoes, but I literally just bought the nicest pair of shoes that I can get, at a retailer, at full MSRP before my SDBC team discount. Going forward I will have a mature and complete scope of what it's like to buy and ride different shoes, and will be able to make the most informed decisions. |
In a bit I'll go out and take them on a test ride, and I have a feeling this will be in my head:
You getting mad, and I'm getting rich. You getting maaaaad, and I'm getting rich!!! |
Now you need to buy one of those designer Apple watches to complete the transformation.
|
:)
The other day I rode after work and accidentally put on my high end Victorinox instead of my usual $20 special Target Casio stopwatch. It felt pretty fly actually, to be in full kit with a nice watch like that. #swag |
