today I stopped by here on my way in to work.

Finally went to the doctor today to get my hand checked out and it's not looking so good, probably gonna have to get a cast.it's also a gorgeous day out in Portland but I can't go to the track cause I can barely make a fist. I'm bitter and going to drink heavily tonight.

Dang, that sucks about the hand HnS.

Today I consumed two flying insects which means spring has officially sprung and I must try to unlearn my favored gape-mouth breathing technique again.

I put the rear brake back on the Bianchi and put a new saddle on it Fizik Antares , went for a ride and stumbled upon a Colnago dealer and saw their entry level road bike the Strada and I think I'm going to pick one up :-) . Damn I need to find a job fast !,,

Today I started the process of going micro drive.

I ran Micro Drive for quite a while. Sold my last meaningful bit of MD stuff a couple of months ago, though.

Why the tying and soldering?

I dunno, the mechanics talked it up to me and it's cheap lol

It makes them (marginally) more strong and robust. Also, if I break a spoke on the road, it will stay in place instead of flailing around and potentially causing frame damage. I'm gonna be beating the crap out of these wheels by using them as everyday riding/training wheels.

shoulda laced up some double butted spokes + brass nips.
also, breaking a spoke that tied and soldered is more of a pain in the ass to replace than ones that's not......broken spokes and frame damage usually don't go hand in hand....

well like everything else ill learn this one the hard way

Haha in all honesty, I wanted something nicer and lighter (or comparable w PT hub) as my open pro wheelset: 32/32, brass nips, double butted spokes, ultegra hubs.

Stripped the black finish off my cranks .............. but now feel I like the black cranks on the bike more. Pfft.

Today I got another Free Spirit. Wanna lace that rim to a freewheel hub, get new cranks.
I gotta serious Free Spirit problem.
