I went to the Encino Velodrome swapmeet today instead of training. Its too hot to go out into the canyons today anyway. I walked out with a pair of Shimano Clipless/platforms and a Deore LX rear derailleur. Im still in the valley and have to ride over the hill but damn it's an oven outside.

I love it when ebay sellers ship you the MTB parts you bought off them still caked in their native mud.

Had a good laugh when my sqrl opened it to find bits of dried up mud and grass inside the package. They weren't lying when they said they tested it and found it working perfectly.

Damn, whatever happened to common courtesy. When I sell anything on ebay which I do quite often I always make sure to wipe it down/clean it. No matter what it is. Leukybear

Today I died trying to ride a metric. I have a century next weekend and I think I might fake a crash around mile 50. I'm terribly out of shape.

Where's this at? I'll come with the thumb tacks.

shrug. I have had the same experience as Leuky. When I bought my Deore m730 crank it was caked in dirt. 25 year old crank caked in possibly 25 year old dirt

Today I am back in the "Third World". Street vendors in the city sell individual cigarettes. They cost from a dime to a quarter each, depending on the brand. They even have a courtesy lighter for you to use. Of course, it is tied to a cord so customers won't "accidentally" put in their pockets.

Although smoking is meh, that's pretty neat I guess, considering you can try them all without having to commit to a pack.

Hahaha I doubt the concept is intended for the cigarette connoisseur.

They're called loosies and you find them at liquor stores in the hood.

Yeah, I think here it has more to do with economics, some people can't afford to buy the whole pack.

Didn't know it was also done in the US.

So if Lucile buys two cigarettes at the liquor store, could we refer to them as Lucy's loosies?

bro 03-15-14 09:07 PM

i used to buy singles all the time around here(universally a newport 100 for 50 cents) but they cracked down on it and everyone is scared to sell them now from getting fined.

Nagrom_ 03-15-14 09:23 PM

Damn, you must be in the fancy hood. My local shop has like golden deer and maverick. 25 cents.

Comes with a free match too. There's a sheet of sand paper glued to the wall twenty feet from the door in either direction. Neat idea.

But you better not mess up, as I've heard him explain to others. The first match is free with the cigarette, but the second one costs a quarter. The match comes with a free cigarette.

Dannihilator 03-15-14 09:33 PM

Today I decided I want to build up a pathracer.
