Putting the Lemond back up for sale.

Welp, seller backed out. Still looking for a 56cm CAAD or SuperSix.

Nice of them to drop off a dog. He looks cool. Get a better picture without that box in the way.

CX is really appealing to me... I'd get into it if there was a calendar in San Diego (only in LA)

I dig how it involves skill and coordination a well to be fast - I've always been athletic. Did basketball (small fwd) and wrestling in HS. I also like how much safer it is than road.

me too, but at like 19 or 20. them wounds messed me up for like 2-3 days.

johnnytheboy 03-27-17 10:31 PM

today was the worst day so far. i called into my surgeon who guaranteed me that i don't have dry socket(s). the nurse said it would be so bad nothing would seem to remedy it. so yeah...guess i don't. just discomfort. i've got a followup with them wednesday tho.

motrheadsroadie 03-27-17 10:32 PM

protip. you can prevent a drysocket and still do bad kid things like smoking if you keep some pressure on the wounds with a layer or two of those cottonballs they send you home with to sop up all the uncoagulated blood.

motrheadsroadie 03-27-17 10:33 PM

i still wouldnt go to town on a milkshake with a straw like that tho.

seau grateau 03-27-17 10:53 PM

Today I bailed on going to the track because winds were gusting into the bull**** realm and that doesn't sound like a fun way to paceline. Went for solo night ride instead, no ragrets.

he used some gelfoam in the wounds to cover the clots. totally weird to look into my mouth and see a 1/2" wide holes in my jaw with sponges in them.

This weekend I got out, enjoyed nature and rode a bunch.

Saturday I took a train out with some people to visit the blooming poppy fields in Antelope Valley.

It's an agricultural area on the edge of the desert, so lots and lots of open space.

It was windy that day and the trails are rather sandy and difficult to slog through.

Some friends heading out to the area in their car happened to find me while I was riding back to the train station. Decided to join them and go for a hike in the reserve, which is what I really wanted to do out there.

Sunday was CicLaVia, and second day without hectic traffic and noise.

^^ Nice! Some folks I know did a ride to see the poppies too. I would've joined but meetup was in the valley, early, on a Sunday morning -- that's three strikes for me. Looks beautiful in all the pictures I've seen though.

It was serene. I want to go back when the hype dies down a little. I was in Joshua tree this time last year and it too was blooming. The desert in spring is spectacular.

You can take a metrolink from Union Station to Lancaster to get to the poppy reserve. due eeeeeeeet

Today, I woke up and struggled to find the motivation to ride to work in 34F and heavy fog. I made myself do it only to find my rear tire was low upon leaving my driveway. "A HA!" I said when I noted the presta valve was open. Surely that was the cause. I pumped it up and went on my merry way (sans eyewear, D'oh!). 3/4 of the way there my rear tire was flat again. Ok, slow leak. I'll use my trusty Silca CO2 inflator to give it a pump just to get to work, I'll change the tube when I get there. That would've be great if I had remembered how to actually use the thing; one CO2 cartridge down, no biggie. Welp, may as well change the tube now. I get to work at least a half hour later than I intended with a dead headlight because I'm an idiot. They can't all be great I guess.

Haha... That's Charlie, and he is pretty cool - provided you're not another dog, that is. He seems to hate all of them.

Oh, and there was actually a fairly cool bike in the box, too. Glad I checked what was in there before throwing it out

Unkle Rico 03-28-17 08:11 AM

When I had all 4 of mine out, the first/second day were fairly bad iirc. Lots of Jamba Juice and stayed in bed most of the time. Threw up once and it was basically all of the blood that I had swallowed which was extremely gnar.

You'll be back on yer feet soon sir!

My dog is the polar opposite. He loves other dogs more than anything else, expect for maybe food.

Because you know what's really important in life. Sniffing butts and processed meat product.
