Muffin Man 08-30-17 08:11 PM

Got 16 hours 42 min riding last week from Thursday through Sunday and I'm still feelin it today. I have a race on Labor day, and I'm hoping I can find my legs again before then.

johnnytheboy 08-30-17 09:07 PM

today i ran for the first time in years and ran an 11 min mile. running sucks.

Pfffff wuss, if I had a bike I'd be out everyday in this Vegas heat. I miss biking so much.
Just cant justify buying a bike right now.

You don't have a bike?

Monday I was evacuated by boat from my house. The water was deep enough the boat pulled right up to my front door and was floating.
All my bikes are in the garage in possibly as much as 5 ft of water or more
Water most likely won't recede for weeks.
I just put new tires on my commuter, too. Argh.

Man oh man. My condolences for your hardship.

tough stuff the sci guy. Hope you can bounce back from the damage in a reasonable amount of time.

TimothyH 08-31-17 01:18 PM

Today I stood out of the saddle for the first time while riding fixed gear on rollers.

The standing and pedaling part wasn't too bad. The sitting back down part was sketchy. :twitchy:

Stop making us mortals feel bad.

ThermionicScott 08-31-17 08:39 PM

Does this trigger anyone? Today I used leftover bar tape to re-wrap the side that got scraped up in my incident with the deer:

That whole cockpit is just one gigantic trigger.

johnnytheboy 08-31-17 09:06 PM

what sean said.

johnnytheboy 08-31-17 10:48 PM

today i got word that my color matched whisky carbon fork for my mr pink will be here by the end of sept.

Leukybear 08-31-17 11:46 PM

Scott must get pleasure from our reactions to this lack of cockpit symmetry.

Amen to this.

Today I am coming to the realization that I will probably have more miles this year on a geared bike over a fixed gear.

TimothyH 09-01-17 07:21 AM

Keep in mind that 1 geared mile = 1.25 fixed gear miles.

Or something like that.

TMonk 09-01-17 08:14 AM

It also depends on where/how you're riding. A mile on the track goes by a lot faster than a mile on the trail, por ejemplo

Dang. Is that a service they provide? I've been looking at the no. 7 for the Nature Boy. Think it's a worthy investment?

TMonk 09-01-17 04:53 PM

Got back from PT at lunch. This was in regards to my MTB crash on 8/18. Fortunately pedaling is OK but there is still limited ROM and pain with certain movements. I've had to learn to clip in/out with my other foot for example, because twisting is no bueno.

There is no ligament damage or fracture, just some deep contusion (bruise) in the tissue and bone that will take 4-6 weeks to heal. I've been doing <2 hr rides with easy and (short) hard bits without issue.

I'm gonna take the next few weeks to focus on strengthening, stretching and massaging whilst slowly ramping up the volume to where I want it to be. I'm lucky that I dodged a serious injury and don't want any long-term complications. I'm confident that I'll be healthy and up to full volume by the time we're through with fall.

Plus it's the off season! Time to swim, go to the beach, play more piano and maybe sleep in like a normal person. I'll be back whoopin' ass by the time I start pinning numbers on again and it actually matters to me :).

johnnytheboy 09-01-17 04:54 PM

you've got the right attitude. heal up!

TMonk 09-01-17 04:59 PM

thanks man
