for reference the picture and bike are equally crappy. I've left it at work for the past ~18 months for a lunch/quick errand bike. That's also my mtb too

OMG brakeless no foot retention your gonna die bro. I've been using my track bike to run errands lately because my beater has a flat that I haven't felt like fixing.

Went out for 30 miles today. Wanted to see if I could beat my best time on this ~7 mile hilly segment, wound up being a little less than a minute behind my PR. A section of the road was torn up for repaving, so that didn't really help. Still not bad though.

It gets taken on short rides (<3 mi) on completely flat land and I don't really ever go fast on it. 42/18t. @seau grateau I've been meaning to put a brake on it for a while so co-workerrs would be encourged to ride it around. I lowered the seat for that reason too.

today i realized it would be really ****ing stupid of me to get rid of a rivendell in favor of a space horse. this bike is pretty much everything i ever wanted. some comments on here got me thinking.....i want a bike that can do what my riv does, but more quick/nimble. what would i be sacrificing though? the allure of something new is always great but not always the best choice. the grass always seems greener...
who says a space horse would even be any quicker? a shorter wheelbase, but less cushy tires and possibly a harsher riding frame would probably leave me missing my riv.
at least now i've got a space horse frame i can keep for awhile and decide what i'm going to do with it.

The Space Horse looks like a close match to the Soma Wolverine. That Riv is a keeper

^^ Good news.

Yesterday I rode a century single speed.

It was the inaugural 100 miler set up and run by the brewery "cycling team" I ride with. Pretty good turnout though. 60 - 70 riders for the 50 and 100 mile routes combined.

I geared for the last 20 miles of gravel hills and got killed on the mostly flat 50 miles of greenway that started the damn thing.

Still happy with my overall pace though. 6:18 overall, managed 18 mph avg for the first 55 miles and 3,800 ft in elevation overall. All on 66 GI. Today I'm ded.

i keep going back and forth. i decided to frame save the riv, so when i stripped it i just decided to build up the space horse to see how i like it. it'll gimme a couple days to ride and analyze. so far, it's about half the weight of the riv and is much snappier (as expected).
i really shouldn't let the "oh man i have a rivendell!!" cloud my judgment. if i'm not in love with a bike or the way it rides, what difference doesn't it make what brand it is?

cruised around for 4 hours today, 70 mi. w more elevation than usual. did some exploring and found some neat roads that connect some of my major routes.

Had a good session at the track. Was feeling sluggish all day, but my legs woke up once we got into some sprinting.

I did 180 miles over the weekend up various hills and mountains with a bunch of folks. It rained heavy the second day luckily it was on the second half of the ride but still 30 hilly miles in soggy wet clothes isn't fun. However yesterday upon our return we got greeted to a bunch of cheering folks and some bomb pupusas and fresh coconut water.

That feeling when you've been up for over 24 hours but now too awake to fall asleep. And I probably shouldn't sleep until very late so not to totally disrupt my night shift sleep schedule. It hurts...

Anyway, I found out a coworker rides fixed and has a problem with his bike, possibly the BB. His LBS was unable to diagnose the issue so I offered to take the bike home and do some wrenching. It should be fun to play bike mechanic again.
