Do It Yourself (DIY)...again

I started a DIY thread in 2007 and it remained fairly active till 2014. It was retired.

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...Yourself-(DIY)

This is a continuation of that thread.

Feel free to repost your ideas and finds.

The OP from the old thread:

Bike Mechanicing so easy, a caveman can do it.

OK, kids. We are professional cyber-cyclists. Don't try this stuff at home. If you do, you do it at your own risk. Remember, these are the ramblings of wannabe know-it-alls who spend more time on the computer than our bikes...so we can't be held responsible if you lose a finger (or two).

Now that that is out of the way, on to the good stuff.

Get some conveyor rollers from McMaster Carr with some mounts and it would be so much better.

Can vouch for legitness of store.
Massive selection & they have a bunch of warehouses scattered around the states and usually when you order something in CA it'll arrive next day or in a day.

McMaster Carr is great! You can go the conveyor route which is better than rolling pins, or you can actually buy individual roller drums (they even come with the requisite axles). I went this route. Used some aluminum "C" channel for the side rails. Bolted everything down to a piece of plywood with some of that black perforated/nubby rubber matt on the bottom. Can customize for wheelbase. With a solid base it doesn't move underneath you, and the base/matt absorbs a lot of the vibration, reducing the noise.
