I was going to build up a cheap rear wheel just for the trainer/rollers so I didn't have to swap tires/cassettes. Excel Sports was selling a new set of Reynolds Alta Comps for $160. Now I'm going to mount some Conti Hometrainer tires on them and save my good tires for outside...plus I have a spare set for the road to boot.

BTW - anyone have an old 12-27 cassette they could spare? I want to put my old Trek back into riding condidtion as a commuter bike.

DaveSANYYZ 09-26-07 11:19 PM

Sorry. 12-27 is my magic climbing cassette...

I just took delivery of a bathroom weight scale from Nashbar. Fancy looking glass one for $30. Cheaper stuff aren't always a bargain, since it's totally inaccurate and over-estimated my weight by 15 lbs (I wish)! Time to cut down on In-n-Out.

Silliest purchase ever. $15 for a titanium recessed brake nut. I needed a longer nut to mount my brakes to a carbon fork - and this was all the LBS had. I wasn't willing to go driving around to find a steel one.

Who would go out of their way to buy stupid %$@# like this? How much weight could it possibly save? 1 gram?

Think of it as a wee bit'o titanium bling :p

Just ordered a compact Chorus crank, Colorado Cyclist has pretty good pricing on it if anyone's shopping campy cranks. Now I need to talk myself into one of those magical climbing cassettes.

I've got an 11?-25 that I'll never use.

Turtle1 09-27-07 11:06 AM

Kinda un-bike related but I got one of these installed yesterday, oh happy day:D

Not if you installed it on a bike! :D

TOTO makes one of the best toilets and urinals.

Mo'Phat 09-27-07 11:11 AM

Waxie makes the tastiest urinal cakes.

Turtle1 09-27-07 11:20 AM

mmm, cake....

I didn't think it was possible to love a toilet this much, I especially enjoy the anti-slamming lid and the water level refills super fast after a flush.

roadfix 09-27-07 11:29 AM

I love their squirting toilets.

STP is one of my favorite stores. Don't forget to google for STP coupon codes though. :)

Happytime 09-27-07 06:17 PM

D'Oh! I forgot about the coupons.

I like STP a lot, I get a lot of my running gear and base layer stuff there. I've been hit-or-miss with the cycling stuff, though. I'm pleasantly surprised they're offering brands like Campagnolo and Etxe Ondo now.

Go for it. I assume from the chain that the cassette is 10sp. I will need a 9sp.

Gretsky - thanks for the offer :)

Yes. It has 3510 miles on it. I didn't replace it because it was worn, I switched to a 12/27.

You keep track of the mileage on your chain..???
Pretty good, I'm along the lines of " well. i think I bought it a year, no maybe year and a half ago".

Oh, and my new Oakley Mtb shorts arrived from Steap and Cheap..
Probably the best $20 shorts I've ever purchased!!
