Park workstand. Got the one with fork mounts since I'm not sure how to clamp the non-circular tubes & seatpost for one of my bikes.

Group buy IRO Rob Roy. Most parts scavenged from my Giant Bowery. 42x17 fixed, 42x20 free.

Added Avid Shorty 6 Cantilevers, Ritchey WCS Logic Headset, and Kenda Kwick 700x35 knobbies.

Griffen Track Bicycle off craigslist. It had no wheels, pedals or chainring when I bought it. I think it might be too PRO for me. The downward sloping top tube makes for a really low headtube and much more drop than I am accustomed. The ugly Look Ergo Stem works pretty well though. Has Sugino 75 cranks. Wheels are Mavic CXP-22 rims laced to Formula hubs.

^^^ Very nice!! Nice color on the IRO!

GP 4000S tires with the "Chili" compound from probikekit. With 26% less rolling resistance (than what?) I reason that I will be 26% faster. With 30% better grip I reason that I can take turns 30% faster. I will be testing my hypothesis when they arrive. I hope you will all visit me in the hospital.

Re. the Griffen, you must be stopped

I know, I must be. :(

The Rob Roy has:

1) Rack/Fender eyelets/brazons
2) More clearance for cyclocross tires
3) Cantilever bosses (canti's allow wider tires than road calipers)
4) Curved fork blades and seatstays (less harsh, Bowery was a little harsh)

I now have a moratorium on bicycle/frame purchases. Somebody stop me!!!

Nice. Freewheel or fixed?

Bought a pair of these from Performance today as they had a 20% earning in points. Not sure if I am going to keep them kind of expensive. I have not been able to stay comfortable in my SIDIs nor in my 5 year old Specialized shoes.

i've had the same experience. I couldn't get a good fit in Sidis. I hope those work out for you

While thinking about a new bike and all ready spedning on that I had some more shopping for the current one: my bike in the shop...
Getting an ultegra 12x27, a 34 ring to replace the 36
A new BB (the store called and was surprised to see how bad my BB is - look like 20-30% less effort with a new one), and new chain.

If you have outboard bearings get a ceramic upgrade on the BB.

So what frame did you get?

Well i ordered a full set for my Giant TCX last year to replace the V-brakes that came with it (i bought it used so the previous owner changed afew things, namely the brakes and the cranks). However, they were taking like 2 or 3 weeks to arrive so i ordered another set and got those quickly. So now i'm left with a spare set of brakes...

I got an orange Rob Roy as well. :D One for me and one for my brother-in-law as a late christmas present.

I've got 2 fixed cogs but I'm enjoying the 18T freewheel right now.

I ordered a 16/18 Dos Eno last night. That should give me a little more top end.

Indolent58 04-01-08 07:23 PM

Going from 9 speed to 10-speed on my Look. I have no real reason to do so but I was bored for a while today.

Forte branded KMC 10 speed chain

For various technical reasons that's all I need to switch.

I switched to it for the first time recently. After the first ride, I noticed a lot more shiny metallic flakes than usual. I've not seen this after the 2nd or 3rd ride. Not sure if this is due to other factors or not, but I suggest you to watch/clean it after the 1st/2nd rides just in case.

voltman 04-01-08 11:04 PM

Is the Forte branding on the chain itself, or just the box?

DaveSANYYZ 04-01-08 11:13 PM

Just the box. The chain itself has KMC and 10SC stamped. The good thing about it is that it comes with reusable master link, and that it's very, very cheap (compared to others). :)
