Glad you are enjoying the SS, Frank. I favor fixed but sometimes I feel like taking out the SS for a change of pace.
I might try the Dos Enos for my dedicated SS one day.

I'm not 100% sold on the Dos Eno. I had to adjust the brakes to use the small 16t cog because of the wheel alignment. I thought I'd be able to just put the chain on either cog and be done with it. I do like the sound though.

As far as alignment with the brake pads, a frame with semi-horizontal dropouts work best like those found on older frames. The rim will align with the pads regardless of axle position.
I like the solid sound of the ratcheting mechanism too. :D

GP 4000S tires with the "Chili" compound from probikekit. With 26% less rolling resistance (than what?) I reason that I will be 26% faster. With 30% better grip I reason that I can take turns 30% faster. I will be testing my hypothesis when they arrive. I hope you will all visit me in the hospital.

I just mounted these on my bike last night. I will try a test ride tonight to verify the expected 26% improvement in speed.

Scootcore 04-09-08 04:53 PM

make sure and report back

But if you have two of them, would that be a 52% improvement?

DaveSANYYZ 04-09-08 05:00 PM

I don't know. If he only changed one tire, his old one will drag him down and thus only a resulting 13% speed increase. Need both to get the 26%.

Well I have to say I'm disappointed. The new GP4000S tires only increased my speed by 16.254%. However, while measuring the increase I observed something new that could revolutionize cycling as we know it.

I discovered that by pedaling harder I could increase my speed by even more than 26%! I suppose someone will claim that everyone knows that, but I did some checking and no one has patented this yet, so I have jumped in and filed for a process patent on pedaling harder to go faster. The US Patent office grants process patents like this all the time so as soon as the paperwork comes through I will own cycling. Buaaahhahahahaha!

I'm not a wussy. I'm going to ask my mom if I can take it off.

Picked up a tidbit for the steel Italian bike. No doubt it's something I don't need at all.

It's an item that's no longer manufactured and sporadically becomes available on eBay in various states of condition. It scratches easily, is hard to polish, and shows fingerprints. It's got all of the characteristics that should'nt be on a bike. But I stumbled across one in an Online bike store overstock page.

Rare, authentic, and factory correct just like in the original brochure. GOTTA HAVE IT!:D

You forgot to mention that those old one bolt stem clamps scratch the hell out of your bars when you're installing them Clearly you had no choice but to buy it. Congrats.

Personally, I like the socks just as much as the shoes!
;-)

Just bought a Lemond '07 Versailles. Went in to buy some shoes, saw the clearout for 07s, bought one. Now I'll be paying this bad boy off for awhile.

Congrats on your new bike! Be sure to post pics! :D

Easton 90SL fork. I'm sure this will make me much faster down the hill on my C'dale. :)
