I will upload later the photo I took from the crash. 2 guys went sliding down at about 30mph; both looked ok but they didn't continue the ride.

It was brutal. Happened right in front of me going down Old Topanga (toward beach). Scoot, you know one of them -- Joel. They were doing about 30, one guy hits a large rock and goes down, and takes Joel with him. The slid for about 50 feet! (I know, because I walked back to throw the rock out of the road.) Sparks were flying everywhere. I was afraid to look. But they both walked away. The other guy looked more scraped up, but Joel got more banged up, I think. I hope nothing is broken.

Ovo -- once the group headed down, we ran into the other two people riding back up (after making the phone call). They all stopped, but I kept going hoping to catch up to Cassave and the other guy (?) who was with him. Since they went over the hill first, they had no idea about the crash. They weren't at the bottom, so I headed up PCH thinking I might catch them at Neptune's Net. I'm not even sure they went that way, but Cassave mentioned it before the ride. Anyway, never ran into them. I went to NN, waited for about 15 minutes, then climbed Decker over to Westlake and back to Calabasas for about 66mi. Where did you guys go?

I called one of the people who waited with them and she said Joel was hurting pretty bad and had to be helped into the car. I tried to call his house but got no answer. I will post an update as soon as I hear anything. This really sucks.

Vance, did you see Cassave go over Topanga? Cathy was with him at the start.

I wondered who that was with him. No, they were long gone by the time we got to the top of Topanga. They probably waited at the bottom, but I'm sure they took off after 15 min or so. Was the plan to go north or south on PCH?

FWIW: Cathy (Valleygirl) and Larry (I don't know him...was that Cassave?) sort of got lost from your group right off the bat this morning. They went up to the top of 7-minute climb, waited and never saw anyone else, so came back down and did the regular Wed. AM ride with me and others.

We ended up going up Old Topanga from PCH side. Never saw anyone, though...crash must've been cleared.

Cassave was the one in the yellow jersey, his name is Steve. This was a very weird Wednesday ride for me . I did end up with a darn good ride in the end, even though I missed the main group I had intended to ride with. Steve and I thought someone said Rock Store climb. So off we went up Mulholland and waited on top of the first hill for everybody to catch up. Nobody came along, so down the hill we went to catch the usual Wednesday ride and start all over again.
So sorry to hear about Joel and the other guy. I hope Joel didn't break anything.

Sorry...I had met Cassave before (at Baldy ride I believe), but my memory is terrible. :rolleyes:

Don't feel bad Mark, my memory is worse than yours, I did remember we'd met before but names always escape me.

Cathy and I thought the plan was to re-group at the top of Rock Store. We headed up Mulholland and stopped at the top of seven minute hill for about 10 minutes waiting for the group, thinking somebody way have flatted (or maybe Pete's new bike needed a little adjustment). When nobody came we headed back to Valley Circle to catch the usual Wednesday ride with Ron and Sue Skarin et al. So we simply missed the carnage on Old Topanga. Sorry to hear that a nice time got ruined for some.

The news from Joel: 3 broken ribs and a small fracture of the pelvic rim. :(
