Ovo, what about that left up onto Burbank from Sepulveda? It's a bit of a wall there, and I wonder if the freeway onramp being on the right there presents a problem? How about Sepulveda > Valley Vista (better than Ventura?) > Hayvenhurst > Burbank> Woodman? Or is there some other way to get to Woodman north? I did see a designated "bike route" heading West off of Sepulveda right near Valley Circle. Where does that lead? Riding on Burbank sucks out loud, the confusion at the fwy, large cracks in the road, and high speed traffic. Coming down Sepulveda, turn left before the 101 at Fiume and get on Valley Vista, bear left at Woodvale, rt on Densmore, left Valley Vista, rt Woodley, left Dickens, right Libbet, left Moorpark, right Hayvenhurst, left Magnolia, right Amestoy to Killion to Louise, to Oxnard to White Oak. At this point you can get anywhere in the west or central valley without dealing with the madness of Sepulveda or the 405 area. It sounds complex, but after you do it you will not go any other way. |
for once, ovoleg is right. you'll only be on burbank for a half a mile or less to get to woodley. but i have no problem with traffic either.

I think you mean Woodley, not Woodman, and Valley Vista, not Valley Circle.

Dang, SFVBC thread slips to the second page. . . Good to see people are doing more riding than posting.
So, who is doing the Balcom ride tomorrow from the college? I'm undecided as of now. Last year was fun, but the stop at Starbucks was overly long, and the wait on Balcom was way long too, but the weather made it great. Doubtful that we'll be as lucky tomorrow. If going, I'm thinking of skipping the Starbucks stop, and going to Steckel(?) Park near Dennison Grade and back to make it an even 100 for the day. Big John, Vancemac, Cassave, Valleygirl, etc., who's in for tomorrow? |

You up for making it a 100, Bob? You could always do Dennison grade to keep your climbing totals up.
|
I think Valleygirl and Sarah will be riding there with me and some others. Don't think I want to go to Steckel Park, but it's fun to go in there and see all the birds.
Hope to see you tomorrow, Paul. |
Anxious to hear how the CSUN ride went. It was hard to see anything clear on the internet broadcast, but I'll be looking for you on the Versus coverage.
|
Vance,
Dang, you guys are fast. I mean really fast. I didn't start from CSUN, but did the short 52 miler instead. Great turnout. Climbed Balcolm from the backside. This is the first time I've done Balcolm that way (actually only 2nd time period). I have to say it is tougher than Sierra, although it is considerably shorter. |

What's going on for Saturday?
Looks like the RoseBowl ride is getting the most hits. |

I am going to be in cSun for a short 35 miles; if any one want to join me in a low speed (I am monitoring my HR not to go over 80% max as much as posiable) is more than welcome.
The club ride level 2 is ride number 131 ,35 miles with 1100ft. |

Well despite the wind on Devonshire, had a nice ride up LaTuna. I think my pacing is improving; I was able to accelerate 3/4 way up where the grade drops a degree. :)

By the way, Shai's pics from Sunday's ride here (bottom three rows). |
Me.
George on the blue two-tone De Rosa Bill &..... *sigh* I can't recall his name. Tall, grey wearing a Kahala LaGrange jersey. Keith would know; we said Hi to him at the end of the ride. A white SUV with two bikes pulled up as I was in Western Bagel, but they left before I came out. I think they saw no one there @8:10 and assumed? |
