There. Now was that so hard?
You appear to want to belong to this community yet create all this drama around something that is pretty basic. If people doubted that you actually had one perhaps you may ask yourself why that was. No one seems to doubt that I own a bike (or six).
Congratulations, you have purchased a touring bicycle.

Notice they cleaned up the welds on the frame but not on the fork.
You see the Avid bb7 cable operated brakes because of the change to brifters
The kickstand mount
Shift cables going into the down tube and then exiting neat the BB
The peg for the front of the rear fender is interesting.
My son at 9 months showed no appreciation for the accordion, at 21 his attitude has not changed.

Today I went to the biggest TREK store. They didn't have one 920 either. WTF
They had one black 520.
80% of the bikes for sale here are useless bungee fork trail bikes.

Finally! Now all we need is a little accordion music to accompany a short YouTube video of your bike to prove it's for real.

There we go. Nice little bike, though I thought it came with TRP Hylex brakes and bar end shifters? They might have changed spec since last I rode one in December I guess.
Happy touring Squeezo and welcome to the internet ; )

Actually Squeezebox paid extra to get those removed to get brifters. That of course on top of the astronomical 2k price tag.

Hey, all you Trek 920 owners. Let's see some pictures and ride impressions. Mainly pictures. I don't have one, and have never actually seen one in person. Here's a link to the Trek website. 920 | Adventure & touring bikes | Road bikes | Bikes | Trek Bikes

I still like the handling, I have ridden whippy frames and wheels before, This was certainly not one. It's rock solid.

While I was adjusting brakes, and a chain the right length for a 28 cog, I took off the racks to weigh them. Rear is a few grams under 1 1/2 lbs. Front is 1 lb 4.5 oz

It wasn't an insult, or at least not meant as one. I'm just again critisizing trek about their over the top pricing in terms of the 920 simultaneously elaborating that the 920 has not actually changed in specs and you changed the mentioned parts.

It's exactly as you see it. No internal reinforcement. On my photo you'll see where the housing goes into the downtube. That entrance has a housing stop. Cable runs bare through the downtube. The downtube seems to be 5 cm squarish. I think that external housing would be a better choice considering. I wonder what their crash tests showed.
1. obviously easier to service cable/housing
2. downtube-to-BB joint would be much stronger if joined in the normal fashion (welded all the way around the DT-to-BB interface).
I believe Trek has erred in placing form so far before function here. I will be surprised if there aren't 920s being warrantied in the future after cracks appear in the welds on either side of the 920 BB "gap".

So what's with your issue with the fact I just don't like bar end shifters? Unless you want me to go on about LHT being a seriously inferior bicycle comparable only to department store bicycles. Surly even says so. (of course that would just be further criticism).
So please Let's both/all just stop slinging the monkey Sxxx at each other.

I agree, more conventional cable routing would be much better for two reasons:
1. obviously easier to service cable/housing
2. downtube-to-BB joint would be much stronger if joined in the normal fashion (welded all the way around the DT-to-BB interface).

-It's a big downtube
-You must take into account the BB shell and seat tube into account of the strength of that area.
-I've heard that lateral stress is the most important in the BB area. That's taken care of.
-They did the rear brake housing exterior, why not shift cables.
-Lot's of high end bicycles are doing internal routing. I haven't heard of them failing.
-I'm not so sure the bottom weld would mean a much stronger BB area. Without any real knowledge on the subject a person would tend to think so.
-Trek does extensive testing. If it was weak they would have found it.
-But bottom line it does look like something to be concerned about. Why did they do it?
So I'll take my photo of the BB area and downtube size over to the framebuilder's forum and ask those folks that should know more about it.
