Yes, probably could have veered off the trail and got hit by a passing train or hit one of those steel poles. Just dumb luck that I din't crash.

Sub 24 hour overnight - Cobb and Paulding Counties, North Georgia.

I took paved and gravel country roads from home to the Silver Comet Trail and camped along Racoon Creek. 70 miles total.

Here's a "motivational" sign for ya. 12 miles of downhill, IF you can crest that big hill. 😋 There's a long long uphill grade, getting to this point, Union Pass. I'm resting now on the far end of Bullhead City. 🙂

Yeah, big'uns, and they weren't shy either.

Most horses are nervous around bikes but these guys swaggered right up to the fence as soon as they saw me coming.

California?!? I thought we were going to Florida! 😁🤪😁
If you had to read "The Grapes Of Wrath" in high school, you pretty much have to post a pic, passing through Needles. 🙂

I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes. Actually, it was good, I just missed it

I'm not sure if there's a panhandle here, but apparently, I'm in the heart of the Mohave Desert.
It's not as bad as it sounds, the Colorado River is right near here. 😉

My wife was taking a picture of the ceiling in the Masque-Cathedral of Cordoba in Cordoba, Spain when the security guy approached her and asked if she was all right. After she explained what she was up to, he told her she should not be lying on the alter steps, and should get up. He was smiling. She did get a good picture

Looks like he might have been the priest? Looks like a side altar. It surely isn't the main altar at a Cathedral, no?

The steps and above are a sacred space. Hallowed ground to some of us. The equivalent of the Holy of Holies in the Old Testament. Nobody is allowed there apart from those who are supposed to be there during Mass and the sacristans who set up for Mass. As a sacristan, altar server and MC I've had to remind people, politely, that you can't just walk up near the altar.

Tim, I respect your beliefs. My wife is the choir director at our church, on or near the alter in the sanctuary all the time, and I do a lot of work in the sanctuary. She is the last person I would expect to be purposely irreverent. We treat those area with reverence even though we are hammering, doing electrical work, and other work necessary for the function of the church. However, this particular "shrine" was in the middle of a large open area, and had no tabernacle, and was not used for services. It was more like an indoor shrine.

This is the setting with the "shrine" in the background.
