You'd be surprised. I spent hundreds of dollars experimenting with various high-end plastic saddles, and the B17 was good to go from the first or second ride. Would have saved myself a lot of money, time, and hassle if I'd going with it from the beginning.

slynkie 10-21-10 07:46 PM

no use to you now i suppose, but competitive cyclist has a demo saddle program.

JChick 10-21-10 07:56 PM

Day late and a dollar short, story of my life! Worst case it ends up on ebay or the saddle swap.

(Also because I learned that 42cm bars are not too narrow for my colossal @$$: )

Best bars eva! The most comfortable bartops, love em when I'm climbing. And the shallow drops can actually help you get lower more comfortably depending on your fit. I remember reading in an article about a guy from Saxo getting re-fitted and by raising his bars a little he was more comfortable and more aero because he was able to bend his elbows rather then having his arms straight with a lower reach.

The Lumotec IQ is a great light... did not buy but was given a Lumotec Oval (halogen) which should keep the roads lit up this winter and caught a sale today and bought new wool / thinsulate flip mitts at 75% off which got me 4 pairs for $10.00 ( I will be giving some away).

For all the high tech gear I have tried these have been best at keeping my hands warm and dry (I think Machka agrees with me on this)... slipping a glove inside them really adds to their warmth factor and have handled temperatures below -40 C with these.

Just installed this heavy ass crankset.

And this rear wheel. Right now the freewheeil is pretty tight, hopefully it loosens up after a ride or two.

I know this is the Road Cycling Forum but I went in to look at their road bikes.
They opened up a Performance pretty close by so I stopped in to check out some of their Fuji bikes and I walked out with this.
2010 GT Avalanche 3.0 - Stock right now but I have pedals and cages for it of course.

Harbor Freight 1/4" drive torque wrench - $13 on sale.

I was surprised at how loose I left my seat post after adjustments, even though I tightened it pretty good and it didn't move.
