the idea is to help the cyclist evenly distribute pressure across the two ischia (sit bones) and, to a lesser extent, the perineum.Their research showed that even when most cyclists felt comfortable, their weight was unevenly distributed across these areas, which led to decreased long term comfort and performance…The fin simply helps situate the rider properly. They say if you can feel it, you’re not positioned right. It’s not meant to, um, divide and conquer. There’s no need for your bike fitter to say “bend over and spread ‘em”. It’s simply there to facilitate a good position.How it works with existing chamois pads remains to be seen – we doubt they’re designed with this sort of stretch in mind, but could make for an interesting test.

I'm curious to hear what they're replacing and how they compare. I know the planet x brakes are pretty light, but are the grams really worth it.

I've never owned them but the reviews are all 5 star and they look similar to what Pauls Engineering use to make and also like Ciamillo makes. They look just as stout, if not more so, as any of the standard fair.

No they don't. I replaced a set of those with 6800's and braking improved with less effort. The Planet X are good brakes but I get more stopping confidence with the 6800's just not as sexy looking.
I would own them again though if I wanted to go for the looks and still have reasonable braking .

I still like mine a lot. I feel they are as good as the 6700 calipers I had. The 6700 maybe felt a bit Firmer, but they braking power is about the same IMO. At first, the Planet X calipers felt squishy but then I adjusted them and they feel great. I found that having them closer to the wheel helps them to not feel squishy.

The above is a common misconception in regard to brakes. You cannot tell a caliper's braking power based on feel. The aftermarket stuff certainly looks cool, but when it comes to function, it's really tough to beat Shimano calipers.
