66 miles and 5000 ft this morning on the long way to the office. I hate waking up early, but the ride is worth it.

Easy spin today. I even cut 1.5hrs off of yesterday because I did not feel tip top. Making sensible decisions is annoying, I want my damn endorphin fix.

Going to que up another sufferfest workout tonight to dig the hole a little bit deeper before going out of town for a few days. Actually can't wait for a day completely off!

Been distracted with work lately, but I've signed up to do a road race with a bunch of climbing in 2 weeks so I did 3 hours at a steady tempo to try and atone for my lack of workouts and gauge where I actually am. Good ride, but I've been trying not to overthink my weight (haven't touched a scale since last November) and its hard when I see stuff like this:. I was apparently 63.9 kg when I climbed that in July, I'm evidently not that now.

weight could be different. power meter could have been within spec but high one day and low the other. wind/weather/humidity. pacing (assuming it wasn't a constant grade).
or some combination.
maybe not to worry?

Moved my cleats forward 1cm yesterday and just noticed that I set a 10-15 second power PR, at the end of a 2 hour, 0.80 IF fast ride. And that was riding with -20 TSB.
I'm deeply suspicious of any magic bullet type improvements or fixes, but those numbers certainly caught my eye!
[edit] I didn't move the saddle at all. Thinking about this, by moving the cleats and not the saddle, I suppose I effectively lowered the saddle height and moved it back. I don't think this affects the high end power gains as that was out of the saddle, but it does mean that everything about the fit is sort of in flux.

cleats have always been very forward for me... mainly to reduce the amount of toe overlap I have

but, yeah, every change affects multiple other aspects of fit. saddle-BB or even saddle-spindle didn't change, as you said, but saddle-pedal contact point did.
you can have lots of fun with that kind of experimentation. collect the data over the long-haul and see what works best.

1 hour with the fiancee as easy as I could make it. 22 tss. Stopped for pizza mid-ride. That's what I call good training.

Easy hour ride around town with my son. It's the best ride of the week.

training status: a joke. had a fun week of vacationing, but riding was limited to the hybrid and towing a trailer. on the plus side, i think it sparked more of an interest in riding for my wife, so much so that she's finally considering something new to replace her 20+ y/o mtn bike.
we're kind of committing ourselves to a relay duathlon (where I run 2 5ks and she does a 17mi ride in between the runs), so I've got to get some running legs back and get a sense of what I can actually do long term (I know I can run around ~7min/mile but don't know what my limit for that pace is). So I may have to go hang around slowtwitch instead of here lol

2x20min @ 100% tonight. Hurt, but not as much as I expected it to....i.e. I wasn't actively hoping to die by the end. Might be time for another test.

Finally done with all the travel. Back on the bike last night. 55 minute TrainerRoad workout - 67 tss. Felt pretty good despite flying earlier that day. Looking forward to a solid month of training before the next race

One possible explanation could be you're just engaging maybe a few fresher muscles -- even if they're just stabilizing. I can always hit 15-60 second PRs when super fresh.
