I used to enjoy reading John Ulrich when he was the editor of Cycle News. He could make a technical article fun to read. It sucked when he left. I've been away from it for a long time and have no idea what he's been doing.

I know I've read about people soldering ptap wires back together. Who here has done it? I accidentally clipped the wire in the edge of the clamp for my aero bars when I was setting my bike up in TT mode. I'm an idiot. However, it only broke one of the 4 wires in there. It seems like it would be moderately easy to fix it as opposed to buying a whole new receiver...whats the worst that could happen? I suck at soldering...but if I don't do it perfectly, its not going to short out my computer or anything is it?
ALSO - In case I can't do it myself, if anybody in the CT/NY area has an extra wired powertap shark fin receiver thing and wants to sell it, shoot me a PM and I'll pick it up asap.

take a look on youtube for soldering tips. Its fairly easy. Or you could just try taping the wires with elec tape until someone can solder them for you...

I'm sure that was some time ago. He seems like a nice guy now. He did his first cat 5 race this year and got hammered. He was pretty humble about it.

Twist/tie the broken wire together to make it strong. Heat the wire with the iron and melt the solder on the wire. Get the wire hot enough to melt the solder, don't blob it on the iron first. Just use a little bit. Practice on a scrap piece of wire.

That was a bizarre motor configuration.
By time the RZ stuff came out I was riding TZ's; I did an RZ350 motor for a friend who won a lot of races with it and rode a couple of loaners in stock class as ATM's. Much more civilized than the RD350, which you could make really scary by loading it up with TZ350 parts. I had one that most people wanted to ride...once. Burned up in my house along with my 57 Bel Air.
I remember Ulrich riding a DKW in the 125 production class at Riverside. Leading link fork and all. Cool era where you could trot out all kinds of crazy stuff...Kanemoto's Kwaker triple dirt trackers...Pridmore and his BMW...I won my first road race on a modified XT500 complete with the high fender and tiny front drum brake.

Come, come now. I find that hard to believe. There's tons of Mexican restaurants out near me (Woodland Hills, Canoga Park). I'm not talking Baja Fresh, El Pollo Loco or El Torito either. There's even a taco truck next to a junk yard in Sun Valley that I highly recommend.

For something simple like that I would just use rosin core solder, much simpler and works just as well for stuff like that. If you're soldering some tiny 32 pin surface mount, then I would recommend some solder to clean the surfaces, but other than that, not really worth it.

Most so called Mexican restaurants cater to gavachos and are either bland or just plain suck. We like Las Fuentes, loud and not very comfortable but the grilled trout is the best anywhere.
I just went to King Torta last week for the first time. Some good stuff there. It's near Lincoln Park.
