Two of the docs there have done the majority of the surgeries for our team--both very good. Dr. Karas was mine--he did an excellent job fixing my shoulder and my knee. I talked to a couple other Orthopedic docs after my shoulder surgery (one is on my team and another is a friend) and they were surprised he even took my pec reconstruction case--they said they didn't touch them 6 weeks post injury because of the difficulty of the surgery. Dr. Karas fixed mine 7 months after the injury.

BTW, from every account, the old man in EDR's post was about as good a guy as they come. I know a lot of guys that worked for him and I've never heard a bad word about the guy. RIP, Cool Hand.

What do you get when you cross a mountain climber and a mosquitoe? Nothing, you can't cross a scalar and a vector.

Maybe in your age cohort.

You realize that was determined to be entirely driver error, right?

But was, briefly, carte blanche for anyone driving one to speed.

Edit: Did I even use carte blanche correctly? I have no idea.

The president of the cycling club finally has a bike to ride, so we are going to go for a ride tomorrow morning. Should be fun to get to know him a little better.

Just arrived on campus at my usual spot (comp. chemistry lab) to do my nightly seminar work. I'll be here for 4 or so hours and plan on being done with my seminar slides by the time I leave.

Got a little wet, but not too bad. Passed some people taking a dirt nap.

This thing is steeper than it looks.

My wife is loving her droid 2. Now she wants me to write an app that scans the bar codes on wine bottles and interrogates her own database for the wine if she has had it before (tasting notes, price, etc.), downloads reviews off of Google, searches for similar wines that are in her database, looks at current pricing, etc.

It doesn't sound too terribly hard and I can see that something like this can be done for just about any commodity.

I bet one could sell an app like that.

why have it be just her own database? If you use any of the normal shopping things you can scan and find the price other places, get reviews, etc. Not sure how you would do the "have I had it before, did I like it" thing though. That's a little tougher.

I've had a couple ideas for apps already. The one I want is the PS3 remote control, which doesn't appear to be possible yet because of some tech stuff with bluetooth. It would also be nice to build an app like my coworker did for his iPhone. He installed an Arduino uC in his car and wired it so he can unlock the doors. He wrote an app for his iPhone that connects over WiFi to the Arduino and unlocks his doors. He has it set up to start the car too, but he doesn't have a remote starter installed in his car.

I want to try and write something bike related, but without ANT+ I can't think of much to do yet.
