Moka pot warning.
Do not disassemble a moka pot before the pressure release valve has popped and everything has cooled down.
Had a Bialetti brand pot I used for cappuccino. One day it seemed like the valve was stuck and not allowing the water to flow up. So being the brilliant person I am, I turned off the burner, opened the lid, and unscrewed the valve.
Let that sink in a moment.
Figured it out yet???
Removing the valve gave the very hot water a low pressure path.
The water started to vaporize building steam pressure and shot a stream of coffee to the ceiling.
To this day the ceiling doesn't look right and there are spatters of coffee occasionally found at odd angles well above eyesight throughout the kitchen.
And it's true that God saves idiots. Had my face been over that stream of super heated water I hate to think what the outcome would have been.

My laptop doesn't do so well simulating SPICE models.
Cores both run at 100%, for 15 minutes at a time (I'm just doing small simulations too, some can take days), and the temps end up at around 95* C. Almost freaking boiling, ridiculous.
The fan doesn't go to hi-speed mode until 96*C, so it ends up getting hot. I'd rather it be louder and cooler (so it doesn't burn my freaking leg). I might have to bring my desktop up here just to simulate this stuff.
Did I mention it's also really slow? The rate is around 25us/s of simulation time. Takes 30 minutes to simulate 50ms of transients and controls at 25us/s.

Looks like my little car incident will end happily ever after. Frame is cracked, his insurance will pay for it. That's a cool $2100 msrp for just the frame. More if the shop decides some other parts need to be replaced (unlikely, rear derailleur is just scratched). If this is like my last insurance claim, they'll send me a check. For $2100. Because my backup bike broke.
******.
What should I buy? I'm thinking pick up a cheap frame to throw the parts on (it's a backup bike after all, doesn't need to be super nice), but I'll be left with $1500 or so after that. Got wheels covered (Psimet rocks!), can't change anything else on the race bike. Probably put $500 away for random travel costs this summer that don't get covered. Save the $1000, or buy something cool?

Buy something cool! haha. Do you already use an srm/quarq? Those are ****** compared to pt's IMO. Or get a 705 if you don't already have one of those.

Man. I just realized how much work I have between now and march 14th and I'm starting to freak out. A philosophy paper due on monday evening/tues morning. A bunch of reading and response paper for two classes (each) next week. Another midterm paper due next friday. A job interview next friday. And ongoingly, I need to study for the california state certification exam to be a chem teacher, study for a basic skills assessment test (another cali exam), and finally 'study' for my citizenship exam so I can become an emerikun.

Radio stations? None of you ever lived in fly over country. I was happy to pick up WLS on the AM dial at night for anything other than country or christian. All I knew about rock and roll until I hit high school was it glorified Satan and his master plan to corrupt the world.

nice way to start the day: a picture of a real coffee pot; a really nice kitchen (well done WR) and Ze's not hurt and getting a new frame.
I hope the rest of my day is half as good.
(sorry g, RTC, and jwible, I'm ignoring bad or not so good news.)
and in other news...So, I hate my wife's friends dog; a dog we are now dogsitting.

Forgot that I gave my speed skating team shirt to my daughter a while back. I saw it this morning in her room and took a photo of it. That's my cycling team shirt behind it to show size difference. I don't think it shows how small it actually is. I couldn't put that think over my dang head.
