I got in a long-ish ride (for mid week). ~3 hours total. Hit a climb pretty hard. I was just going to go up at tempo, but started feeling good, so pushed a bit. Even the head-wind on the way home didn't seem all that bad.

2hrs with 7 repeats of the other climbing hill in town...
This one has more shade and flatter then the other. With this heat I thought I'd play it safe...

Tuesday hammer fest was pretty bad, the group averaged 42.5 kph for ~28km, I only lasted about 8 of those, although, that does seem to fall in line with a lot of my training for the past several months - a lot of hard, fast, short intervals lasting about 8 km's.
Thursday hammer fest tonight was a lot better, 5 of us. No surging so it was a bit easier although the last 15 minutes was very, very painful but I hung in there and sprinted to a photo finish.. it was nice to have a good, FULL ride for once.
I have a provincial RR next Sunday with a 3km hill which I'll more than likely get dropped on. What should I do now till then? I know it's way too late now but just to end the season somewhat good would be nice.

Also the heat has been killing me lately, don't know if it's really very hot over there though. Haven't been able to re-create threshold intervals done almost a month ago when it was a lot cooler, so I've moved on to shorter ones where I can stay cooler, ramping up the power a bit though.

Yes, it's No.8 highway which is the main drag through town. It's a nice climb at 6%-8%, a lot steadier then Sydenham...

Thursday night team ride. 1:45 or so. Didn't get dropped as hard or as often as usual, but that's possibly because there was someone slower than me so they dialed it back.

Good luck to everyone at Cascade this weekend, sounds like a big race!
It's definitely the heat, I think there's something like 47/50 states over 86F this week, same here in Canada.
Smart arse. Ya I like that one, the road is terrible to descend into town though! So many potholes and cracks, it sucks when there's a car trying to run you over too.
I don't know if this is just me, I'm doing it wrong or what but I feel when my TSB is positive, I feel very flat, maybe rested but not a lot of umph.

Take the road man...Centre of the lane all the way down that one. Way too much crap to deal with and once you hit the rail bridge there is no way a car is sticking with you. The most problems I have on that hill is when a car passes me before the top corner. I'm on their ass as soon as we get to the rail bridge and then I'm jamming my brakes hard for the final corner so I don't slam into the back of them.

I have to make a decision what the hell I'm training for. CX is coming up, and I do that with my team and generally have a good time. I'm still thinking about that 12 hour race, though. I actually kinda liked it. I know that sounds weird, but it wasn't the hell that it sounds like. There's another in November.
So do I point things more towards efficiency over very long distances or more for short accelerations and threshold work? In truth, threshold work is rarely a bad thing, so that will be part of the fun regardless.
I've got several work trips coming up in the next 4 weeks, so no matter what I choose, training will pretty much be shot to hell.

putting 2hrs in tonight and making 12hrs for the week but not really feeling it mentally. Been caught in some nasty rain this week and honestly I am trying to convince myself riding is better than beer and the TdF tonight(no racing for me this weekend). Hmm

Down to 167 lbs. I think this is the lowest I can go @ 6'-1.
Yesterdays club ride hurt quite a bit but I felt pretty strong the whole time. Thankfully the rest of the group was really struggling so it allowed me to rest a bit. A couple new power PR's for 2 and 3min.

Making a kilometer blurry
Everyone is different, but I'm 6'4" and got down to 167 a few years ago... I didn't like not eating, and gave up the weight maintenance after a year.

Currently at 146lbs though. Adding a bit of bulk to look a little better for the ladies. And so I don't look like death.

I've got quite a bit of natural leg mass(calves + quads) which might or might not help but its probably why I can't get down to the 150's.
