Well, I can probably ride to some of those climbs too, but they're further away right?

Because I am a power meter.

So wouldn't 5x5 @ FTP be somewhat easy? because if you can do that effort for 20 min, you should definitely be able to cruise by for 5 minutes with rests inbetween, it would only start to hurt near the 4th/5th one.

Without power I just use speed and HR (when possible). Then I just find a cadence that corresponds and try to stay witihin 1-2 rpm's. Yay life without power!

Ftr I'm getting wheels before a PM, one day when I'm sponsered I'll get a power meter crank with my face painted on it.

Umunhum's probably the closest - Hamilton and Sierra are doable from Sunnyvale, but you'll probably have to put up with less than exciting riding across San Jose before you get to enjoy it. Diablo would either be an epic ride, or you could ride across the Dumbarton bridge and get BART from Fremont to Walnut Creek.

Huh, I can sprint. 6th in a field sprint (but there was a break up the road. Nuts.)

Then, raced again.

A good day. I think my legs are back.

In the last 5 days I exercised once. One night I went running for about 40 minutes. It was a rest week, so I guess I really rested. I'm looking forward to getting on the bike tomorrow.

Fast group ride (for me). The hills were a good intro to the AWC workouts that I will be starting this coming week.
Yoga and rest today.

2 hours on the TT bike yesterday, including one 5 minute effort just to see what the thing felt like in the mid-30s. Pretty stable, pretty quick.

Word. Will you be there again next weekend? I assume my coach is going to have me doing Bethel til Johnny Cake starts up.

Also, what's your new kit look like anyway?

Yes, I am doing the series, M45+ and pro. Blue and pink, but not RK&O. The other one.

Johnnycake has an M45+ this year.

Time to start the high-intensity stuff. Hill repeats today. I wanted to do 4 or 5. I was going so much slower by the third one that I decided to stop it there. So I've got some work to do. Felt like maybe I could do one more when I got to the bottom of the hill, but decided not to push it.

The Dyer Observatory climb (Oman Dr.), off of Granny White just south of Radnor Lake. 8/10 mile at 9.4%, but the steep parts are more like 12-14%.

Never been there. Sounds like a great climb to do repeats.
I was doing mine over near the airport. Climbs about 100 ft in 1/4 mile (upwards of 18% I believe) then I would lap around. Total loop is about 1 mile - fun times.

Coming back into high intensity stuff after winter is tough. My first few back were embarassing, and I almost died.

1 hour @ zone 0.8 HR with max being 0.9 on the rollers. That felt nice.

Really? That sounds similar to the end of Fouche Gap RR climb.

I will be hitting up bethesda/arno and pulltight repeats very soon

80' of z1/z2 on an extended commute this morning. Getting serious about really watching the PM on recovery days as much as on hard days.

I would think a PM would be many times more beneficial than wheels...but I suppose I don't know what you're racing on.

Daaaang. Got a street name? Might be worth checking out for the shorter efforts; Dyer Observatory is about a 5 min. climb (for me, this time of year, etc).

I've been doing threshold work for about a month now, so it's not completely horrible, but yeah. Those first short intervals are nasty. And the climbing has a major strength element, it's getting my lower back as well as my legs.

Sort of; from what I can tell, Fouche Gap is a bit longer and shallower (1.1 miles, 7.9%) and has a fairly regular gradient. But I've never been there. Fouche Gap will probably take a little bit longer to climb.

Pulltight is too long a ride from Nashville for me to arsed, if I'm planning hill repeats. If you want pain, that can easily be found at N. Berrys Chapel or Lynwood, both around Brentwood, south of Hillsboro. Another good test climb is Poplar Creek, out in Bellevue.

jsut: No PM ..........

Yotsko: Yaa but my dad spoke with a guy at my LBS and they have some wheels that they can hook me up with, I lack the details right now, but I have time.. and PM's are just out of my $ right now (I know wheels are just as much, but wheels are where it's at for me right now). After I get them, PM is definitely next in line!!

Currently my wheels are TR18 Weinmann's and my tire's are vitorria rubino pro's...the trainer has ocompletely worn the back one out though.
